  1. This ^ is my experience. Have i missed something in the manual?
  2. From a safety/technical standpoint is there any reason why it would be bad for me to power up in this fashion? I know some of L6's POD floor boards didn't have a power switch so i'm not sure if the switch is there merely as a "luxury" type feature or not.
  3. a friend just bought the amp in question. he's considering a Helix (for effects), and i'm bringing mine up to his place to show him what it can do. i use mine for effects only, and to control my Suhr PT15. I was just thinking that if he has the right jack, i'll be pretty much plug and play when i go up to his place. i know him all to well, and he won't want to get into midi. total technophobe...not that midi is technical, but it is to him i guess. As it is, he's even on the fence about using Helix via TRS in place of the EVH's factory foot switch but i'm thinking if i can demo it as i use it w/my Suhr, he might see the light.
  4. Trying to find out if the effects pedal jack on the 5150 is wired as "short to sleeve". if it isn't, it can damage the amp and/or the helix according to L6. reached out to manufacturer but thought i might get an answer quicker here.
  5. That reminds me, maybe it's time, after these updates, to see if protools will finally boot sans-rosetta.
  6. Regarding the attached pic, I ask in my best attempt at a Brittish accent, "Whot's ole this then?" I'd just updated to Sonoma 14.4, and then updated ProTools Artist to its latest version. Upon opening my first session after the updates i got the message seen in the pic. The only L6 stuff i'm running is Edit, and Native. Are they saying they're not going to play together anymore in the future? Seems weird.
  7. contemplating the purchase of an HX Effects for a secondary rig. good to know. ty
  8. If I have an LT that I’m using exclusively as an effects processor (no amp/cab modeling). If I get an HX Effects, can I copy the LT’s effects-only presets, including snapshots, to the HX?
  9. all good info, but i've had it open a couple times. once to specifically investigate the noise, and once to to spray contact cleaner on my foot switches. nothing in there, living or dead...BUT, now that you mention it, I'm in New England and we do see a stray "stink bug" in the house two or three times a week. Pretty common/harmless, found even in the cleanest of homes, and nothing as sinister as cockroaches. That said, maybe the next time i hear the noise, i'll grab my LT and shake it. Maybe a stink bug is getting in/out via the exp pedal cutouts, and both times i looked, the bug happened to not be in there.
  10. thanks, but don't think that's the case here. It makes these sounds even when it's not hooked up to electricity. definitely not a electrical "zapping" or arcing kind of noise. imagine the sound if you were to cut a 3mm length off your low E string, and then drop it on the chassis. that's about the ballpark of it.
  11. I'll play it through a ring mod block to make it sound even creepier
  12. That's what i use for contact cleaner
  13. Joking of course, but i find it amusing that my LT regularly makes mechanical noises, whether it's on or off, and when not in use. I'd liken them to settling cracks that you hear inside some houses...which is probably kind of what i'm hearing the equivalent of on my LT. Metal clicking noises, basically. This is nothing that keeps me up at night as its performance has been solid for a few years now, but i am curious if anyone else has encountered this. If not, i'll look into an exorcism. ;)
  14. i'm confused- you encourage him to make it his daily driver, and then to expect hardware issues? unless you mean make it his daily driver before doing gigs w/it.
  15. to be clear, i couldn't care less. but it's sure fun to poke the hive...not that this thread will gain any real traffic volume
  16. They've lowered their prices? Hmmm...maybe it's truly time to start speculating about an imminent successor on the horizon? Or maybe it was just a marketing decision given the age of the Helix in the current increasingly congested modeling market?
  17. thanks, that's what i was thinking of doing but was afraid to hit the button out of fear that it was going overwrite something. I didn't know at the time that it'd create a folder on my computer. worked perfectly, thanks
  18. I've got a few presets that randomly got buggy on my LT. i recently did a complete backup of everything, but i don't want to do a complete restore from that backup as i have done some refinements on my current presets that i don't want to overwrite (if i were to do a complete restore). Is there a way that i can just import the specific presets that i need that are stored in my last backup to replace the buggy ones that are on my LT? first time having to do this and i don't want to mess things up.
  19. i tried this but when i set the mix parameter to 0, it changes is to 0 for all four of my snapshots. so at that point i set the mix back to 100 on the snapshot that needs it at 100, but then all the other 3 snapshots follow suit. am i missing something? glitch?
  20. so you're saying to have the wah "always on" on the snapshot i use for the solo...which is fine, because the wah is used for the whole solo, and then have it "always off" on all the other snapshots? If so, that sounds like it could be the fix. i'll try it out when i get home, thanks.
  21. Is there any other option? I HATE the the toe switch on these things. I need to practically put my foot through the unit to engage/disengage it. On my previous LT i removed the rubber feet under the exp pedal, cut their thickness down, and then put them back on, but i don't feel like dealing with that again because each rubber foot needs to be the same thickness...which can be tricky cutting rubber w/a razor blade. a bit of a PITA. If i have to, i have to, but if i can avoid it...
  22. i have a song that uses a wah for the solo on snapshot #4. The solo ends w/the wah in the toe-down position, then I go straight to snapshot #1. the problem with this is that when i go to snapshot #1, the wah is still on (because i have the wah set up to turn on/off a hair past full heel-down via the expression pedal). how can i set it up so that when i go to the new snapshot, the wah is OFF, regardless of where my foot physically left the expression pedal on the previous snapshot? This is easy enough with other effects blocks by simply saving the snapshot w/a given effect in whatever state, active or bypassed, but it appears the expression pedal assignment on the wah block is overriding the ability to do so. What's the fix i'm overlooking?
  23. the original manual has a color-coded master list of all amps, effects, etc is there a new version of this anywhere that is current up to 3.7?
  24. Finally got around to this the other day. Perfect, performs just like the Ricochet. Thanks! Right now i'm just using my LT as an effects-only pedal board w/my amp, so no concerns with cpu hogging fortunately.
  25. OMG mime is more than money, its a life suck. Can you tell I'm not a fan :) find me a good solution and i'll do the dead bird
