Using my LT via 4CM just for effects w/my amp. I'm switching over a bunch of presets from stereo to mono but when I try to set the output block to Center (and then saving), when I leave the preset and come back, it's changed back to Left 100. Is this something the unit does because it recognizes that I'm in mono, and typically mono is output through the Left? Thing is, when I change the output block from 100 Left, to the Center setting, I gain a fair amount of volume increase which is kind of nice. weird that it's kicking me back to 100% Left, even after I save it to Center.

Okay, i'm going to answer my own question as i figured this out shortly after posting, in case someone else ever runs into this. After what seems to be a failed attempt to program the SS's, i found that if i save the patch, even though the SS switches aren't functioning based on my command programming for them, if I then switch to another patch and come back, then the switches magically work the way i programmed them to. weird, but whatever, it works.

i've been editing my snapshots to dictate external amp channel changes for each channel of my 3 channel amp. it's been going fine with most of my presets... except for presets that require the amp stay on the same channel for all 4 snapshots (my LT is configured w/4 stomps on top, 4 SS's below). it seems that, per preset, i can only have the same external amp channel set to two SS's. For example- if my first 2 snapshots are assigned to channel two of my external amp, that's fine, but as soon as i try to assign the 3rd SS to use channel two, everything goes screwy, as in suddenly the previous 2 snapshots now have switched to channel 1. I thought that in a case like this that maybe the problem was that i needed to assign a separate instant command to the other two SS's, but that doesn't work either. the manual is limited on this topic so i can't figure out what i'm doing wrong here/

i was just thinking about this and realized be that as it may, the PT15 amp only has one foot switch input jack so he couldn't have been utilizing both Ext Amp outputs on the HX FX
-
actually i reached him via Instagram. I didn't want to bug him for a "tutorial" so i just asked him to clarify if it could be done with a single TRS cable. He confirmed that it could "definitely" be done with a TRS. He said that one switch goes between channel one and two and the second switch goes between 2/3. Said it's been a while since he's done it, so he couldn't remember all the details without digging out his HX.

I'd been trying to get the LT to change channels on my Bad Cat amps to no avail. Pulled out my Suhr PT15 (non-IR) to see if i could get it to work. Sort of. Following instruction from the manual, i can get the LT to change the amp's channels, but it will only switch between channels 2 and 3. I can't access channel 1 on the amp. I know it can be done though because i saw Pete Thorn do it with his HX Effects in a video. All 3 channels. Unfortunately, said video wasn't a setup how-to video. So to you 3-channel amp users, what am i missing here?

right, which is why I won't fault the Helix, or the H9, for not being on the same playing field for that one specific effect. I knew it was a given that i'd never get the Helix version to sound that good, but figured i'd see if anyone had any hacks for getting at least a little closer. I'll probably just make do w/the Helix rotary for practices, and save schlepping the H9 just for gigs. we're too spoiled when we start bitching about having to schlep an extra pedal, right?
-
right, and i get that. but the thing is, that's how i was doing it when i had the Strymon Lex which sounded phenomenal, and my H9 does a decent job too...although not quite as good as the Lex. I'm guessing that the Rotary effects are simply one of the weak effects of Helix. Nothing excels at everything, right? Maybe @craiganderton would have a suggestion/tip?
-
by default i don't use cab blocks because i use my LT into the effects loop return of my guitar amp.
-
does anyone have any tips for getting a more convincing sound out of any of the Rotary/Leslie blocks, particularly at fast horn setttings? No matter what i do it always comes off sounding like a chorus pedal trying to mimic a rotary effect, at best. I have an H9 that does an "acceptable" rotary imitation, but i'd prefer not having to add an external pedal for the sake of one effect for one song. It probably doesn't help that i owned the Strymon Lex. Maybe the bar was simply set too high?

I was too boastful too soon about not using too much contact cleaner like your tech did. I was just using it now and noticed that one of the foot switch's LED lights, which is supposed to be amber (for an OD stomp block), is now half amber, half green. So now it looks like that foot switch is assigned to both an OD and a Delay...hmm, that gives me an idea to suggest to L6. ;) At any rate, hopefully its something that'll just go away over time as the contact cleaner dissipates
-
Welp, I took it apart and cleaned all the switches w/DeoxIT (the foot switch in question did look dirty compared to the others). I did about 20-30 on/off cycles w/no issues whereas before I'd have an issue within 4-8 button presses. I know it's likely psychological, but the action on the foot switch itself actually feels better somehow. I see your video is about six months old now and in that time it's been good for you. Hopefully I get at least 6 months as well. The optimist in me is hoping that it's better than new because sometimes parts sit in a bin for years before getting used, sometimes in humid conditions, and possibly a little corrosion happens in that time (yeah, I know- they're kind of sealed, but still) and then they get put into use, and the corrosion, however so slight, can get knocked (scraped?) loose and start messing with a contact's integrity. The pessimist in me has me thinking it's all still floating around in there though and one day will rear its ugly head again. LOL. or...maybe the DeoxIT dissolves all that crap, I dunno, it's working for now anyway. We shall see.

I recall in your video you mentioned you purchased a bag of 100 of the switches. Have you had to replace any yet, or has just cleaning the existing ones done the trick? If you've replaced some, are they snap-fit or do i need to break out the soldering iron.
-
actually it's been about 1.5 years. I'm surprised so soon given that it's made in China ;)
-
right, saw your video.
-
yep, already watched a couple videos on the microswitches. I didn't jump right into pulling it apart due to no issues with Stomp mode, but given what you said above about how it would still work in SS mode, i guess i'll start w/your #1 and move forward accordingly
-
I've been using snapshots almost exclusively w/no problems for the past 8 months. I just ventured outside of my usual SS presets and found that the #8 foot switch has become unpredictable while in stomp mode. when it is assigned to turn a block on/off, it can take multiple presses for it to turn the block on or off. none of the other foot switches exhibited this behavior, and oddly enough the foot switch works just fine when in SS mode.
-
thanks for looking, but nothing's changed. going to have to accept that I'll need to do two foot switch pushes. like a peasant. ;)
-
both the amp's, and the LT's connections work as they should. The second I switched the global setting for the Exp 2 jack from Exp pedal, to Ext Amp, boom- it worked. I then toggled my assigned footswitch multiple times and saw the amp's channel lights change back and forth each time, thought to myself, "success, cool!", shut it down, and here we are. So yes, a necromancer. Maybe even an exorcism.
-
But I've been spoiled by single-button foot switch pushes via snapshots while using the Helix in stand-alone! now i'm expected to push two buttons? what are we, animals? I saw this ^ video too, BTW. Seen pretty much all of them. Like i said, throwing in the towel would be easier to accept had i not gotten it to work, if only for the 10 seconds before turning it off. I hear you though. Plus, even if i got it to work, there would then be the new problem of why it was humming like a mofo (while in 4cm in addition to the external amp cable being attached). Ground lifts didn't work, nor did changing outlets, but as soon as i removed the cable from my amp's footswitch jack to the LT's EXT Amp/Exp 2 jack, the hum went away. No issues w/4cm alone. Always fun chasing hum sources. I've a love/hate w/Bad Cat, wouldn't be surprised if the problem is on their end. They do some things "different" for sure.

...a guy still fishing for an answer that no one has been able to answer as of yet. it's like the not-so-attractive guy at the nightclub who plays the numbers game. ask enough attractive women to dance, and eventually one will bite. maybe a person who had a similar experience, and has the answer, wasn't around here at the time of my other posts? regardless of repeat questions, the issue I'm having is real, unresolved, and not for a lack of trying. and YOU don't have the answer betacommando, so I'll keep trying from time to time.

saw this weeks ago. didn't work. thanks though buddy

since the manual states the importance of the amp's foot switch jack being "short to sleeve foot switch", yes, they were the first people I reached out to. and yes, they were very nice.

Trying to use my LT to change channels on my Bad Cat amp. Initially I had trouble because after assigning the foot switch via command center it didn’t work. After reading the vucking manual I found my error was that I hadn’t assigned the Ext amp/exp pedal jack to Ext Amp. As soon as I did this I could change channels via the assigned foot switch on my LT. Immediately after achieving this, I shut everything down as I had something to do. When I came back a little while later I was unable to achieve the channel switching functionality. Went back, checked my settings which were correct, just as I’d saved them. Toggled them back and forth but nothing changed. Opened a ticket w/Line 6 and they were stumped. Their best guess was that I needed to recreate the sequence of how I originally achieved amp switching capabilities…which I was not paying any attention to at the time, because I didn’t need to. They suggested turning amp on first, then connecting cables, and vice-versa…then starting with the Helix on, and the amp off, and vice-versa, and a bunch of other setting choice and connection sequences. I think I’ve pretty much exhausted all possible sequences but I figured I’d see if anyone else has run in to this issue, where they might have had to set things up in a certain order, and what that order was for them. I’d almost be more content if I knew my amp just happened to one of those amps that simply can’t do channel switching via Helix, but knowing that it can be achieved after seeing it w/my own eyes is bugging the hell out of me. Yes, I did try different cables and the factory TS foot switch for the amp works perfectly.

given digital igloo's comments over the past months, that when Helix is finally replaced, that it will be something completely different...at risk of stating the obvious, it sure looks like it'll be AI driven...especially when you look at stuff like Ozone plugins, ToneX, etc., AI appears to be poised to be the next standard and looks like it's going to be freakin' great...until it kills us all. ;)
