I want to lube the pedal mechanism to fix this. What lube(s) yield good results in the long term? I'd prefer not having to repeat the process too frequently. "Mime is money"

Jeez...Frank Zappa sure left out a lot of details. Made me think it was a fictional place/planet. Color me informed.

thanks for the newsflash ;), but i own one. but i can't justify it taking up a space on my sub-board. Between the LT's expression pedal's uneven tension/resistance throughout its travel, and my foot not being robotic, there's no way i can get a perfectly even rise/fall like the Ricochet does. It'd just be for one song so i'll just do something else until Helix 2 drops next month.

Those things are SO overrated. I hope it doesn't have a touch screen but it likely will, due to all the market pressure/trends

If set for Momentary, can a Helix footswitch be programmed, when used with one of the Pitch effects, to automatically bend a note up or down by a predetermined interval as well as controlling how long it takes to reach the desired pitch (as I keep the switch depressed), and then return to the original note (when the switch is released), like the Digitech Ricochet? You may say “just use the expression pedal”. Fair enough but my foot isn’t steady enough to do it perfectly even like the Ricochet does.

Just curious- what made you part way w/your Rockerverbs? 10 years ago, a MKii 50W was my main gigging amp for about 3 years. No real complaints other than the Reverb going from 0-100 by barely moving its knob.

Okay, stupid question of the day. I'm sure this is do-able, but i just want to be 100% sure as i've never had to do something like this. I have Helix Native on my studio computer. I'm going to be doing a project over the next few weeks at my friend's studio. He runs motu on a mac. Is there any reason why i can't give up the rights to Native on my computer, and sign them over to his, and then back to mine once the project is done?

Is anyone using their Helix to change channels on their Orange amps? I’m considering getting either their Super Crush 100 or the Crush Pro 120, and I’d hate to lose the ability to change channels due to, from the manual: “IMPORTANT! Connect EXT AMP 1/2 only to amplifiers that utilize “short-to-sleeve” footswitch inputs. Connecting to any other sort of input could cause permanent damage to both your amp and Helix LT! If you’re not sure if your amp has short-to-sleeve inputs, contact the manufacturer.” I’ve reached out to Orange but thought I might get an answer quicker here.

OP here. with TONS of due respect to Mr. Craig, both my Quilter K12 and Friedman ASM sat on the floor and still didn't have the "it" factor of an actual amp...and that's certainly not to say Craig's claims are incorrect. They're totally on point, but sound works in mysterious ways i guess. FWIW, my preferences have changed. I found i got even better results, in terms of achieving "amp in a room" realism by bypassing the speaker modeling of the Helix and going into the effects return of one of my Bad Cats. This has been a constant for me for about 4 years now...which says a lot if you knew me. When it comes to the technicalities of "why" this is, i can't say...nor do i care, because I'm getting my best modeling tones since modeling emerged back when i got the very first generation of POD...or, if you want to split hairs, back when Sansamp came out almost 35 years ago.

thanks, will give it a try. was already using the 2204 block.

I’m trying to cop the sound Lifeson got for the opening riff on The Spirit of Radio. I’m guessing it might have been an ADA Flanger, which I believe used negative feedback. This lead me straight to the Harmonic Flanger since its based on the ADA. I just can’t seem to get it dialed in right though. Anyone have any model and/or setting tips I might not have considered? So far I’ve gotten closer w/my H90, but still no cigar. there's a fine line between making it sound either somewhat close, or too cocked wah-ish. Maybe when I get home I’ll try one of the Legacy versions (just thought of that now), but I’d like to think I’d be able to get closer w/one of the Helix-era models. Then again, stranger things have happened.

I'll give that a try. thanks

I'm using my LT via 4cm with my Suhr PT15, and with an H90 in Effects Loop 2. I'd like to be able to add a Vox "edge of breakup" sound as a tonal option, but i don't want it going through the front of the PT15 as it doesn't sound very good that way (i've used preamp only models of Vox style amps into the effects return of different amps, and it sounds very good). Unless i'm overlooking something, i don't see any scenario, given my current setup, that doesn't end with a Vox model being combined with the front end of the PT15.

i'm sure it's been covered but every time i do a search w/"freeze" in it, all i get are results for threads on peoples' units that have frozen up.
-
i thought you were being a wisenheimer, but after visiting their site, i guess not! can't wait to hear the new triple rotary.
-
Right, and that's likely what'll happen just to play it safe. Hard to gauge how many units were already sitting in warehouses when 3.5 rolled out, and since the Helix is hardly new i'm guessing it's a fair amount the more i think about it
-
i've a family member in the military deployed overseas right now. he's contemplating getting the LT, but he's not in a situation where he could do an update for quite some time. does anyone know if the new units are shipping with 3.5?
-
Noooo, not you, the Dwight Shrute of this forum.
-
It sure does in my DAW in those rare instances where something comes in too hot. didn't know that it doesn't always though. "the more you know!"
-
Funny you should ask. If nothing is coming in the other direction, yes, i blow right through. One of the few perks of my line of work. I don't get tickets.

I neglected to mention in my post that i'm using LT in 4cm for effects only w/my amp. Visual clipping only happens when i really slam the strings while on my amp's clean channel. The other two channels don't clip because they're compressed as a result of being gained up w/preamp distortion. but to answer your question: 1) my tone doesn't need "fixing" 2) there's no audible clipping 3) as stated, lots of gear makers design their gear for an early visual clip before actual audible clipping 4) as stated, i'm just curious if Helix does the "early warning" thing too, and just didn't note it in the manual
-
I noticed on a couple of presets that my effects loop block flickers into the red when i really dig in on my attack, however, i don't hear any clipping. Seems that a lot of gear these days gives an early visual warning, usually a couple db or so, before actual audible clipping. I'm guessing Helix falls into this category? The manual doesn't say if this is the case, only that the meter will display in red when the signal gets too hot. Thing is, when my block flickers into the red, the meter bar below it still displays well with in the green range. Not really concerned, just curious, because usually a manufacturer will state that visual red is simply an early warning.

i didn't. after i'd changed all the stereo blocks to mono, that was the state i found them in. Yeah, changes were made on the LT itself. Will try via Edit when i get home. not sure what that means
