wilson69978
Hello folks. Someone on the forum was debating with himself the pros and cons of the Jtv series guitars. He is close to buying but not sure. So I started wondering myself... 1.How long can we Jtv er's reasonably expect our set ups to be functional? 2. Will we be enticed by something new before the current equipment bytes the dust? ( pun intended )
Palico
1. I stil have an use Variax 500. It works fine. I also recently got my JTV 89F and the nice thing about it is the magnetic pickups in will still work or at least I can rewire the guitar to work, even if the Variax side completely dies. So I think the JTV will last quite well. 2. Maybe who knows? With the Yahama purchase is what actually enticed me to finally upgrade to the JTV. I wanted to get one ahead of any switch over to Yahama based guitars. Played Yahama ones before and they are not bad guitars at all but they ain't gonna hold up to a Tyler either, even if the JTV is really a "Tyler designed" guitar. Personally the Variax side I find plinky and not really that great, althought not the bad. I find the modeling on my old 500 really was better on some models, of course I'm still working on getting my JTV balance out and working better so maybe over time I will get the modeling working better.. The my JTV fit, feel and playability however far outweights my old 500. I use the JTV as my primary and the 500 as backup for the moment. jandrio
on hard disks, provided the r fed with proper "clean" power, the mechanical parts fail first. electronics usually last (much?) longer... as a general rule of thumb, if electronics r faulty, the problem will b revealed the very fisrt hour(s) of operation.

Hi janeiro, Does the hd 500x have a hard drive with moving mechanical parts in it?

I have the Jtv 69 which is similar to my strat so I opted for it instead of the 59. I also use the 500x. I am a long time player but new to line 6 gear. For what it is worth all my other gear that is computer, software, midi based Has lasted surprisingly well. I have some Roland gear form the late eighties that still works fine... So I am optimistic that the line 6 could be long lived as well. I suspect the latest greatest will entice me before the present gear craps out.
