REI_ARTHUR
Hey guys. I'll be using and Marshall MG50CFX for some gigs and I was checking out Line 6 documents and found this option to connect the POD directly to the CD/MP3 input and bypass everything pre. Wich output from the POD should i use? The headphones out or one of the 1/4" outputs with an adapter plug ? If I should use the 1/4' cables, should i select "line" or "amp" level??? "Q: Can I bypass the preamp section of my amp to avoid stacking two preamps?A: Yes, There are two ways this can be accomplished.1) If your amplifier has a CD/MP3 input you can go directly in the this jack from the POD output (This is a common method with the Line 6 Spider Series amplifiers). Be aware you may need to "trick" your amplifier input by using a 1/4" "dummy" plug in the instrument input to allow signal to pass to the speaker (headphone adaptors often work well for this purpose).Guitar > POD unit > Amplifier CD/MP3 input with 1/4" "dummy" plug in the instrument input"
cruisinon2
That amp has an FX loop (the 1/4" SEND and RETURN jacks on the back panel). I wouldn't mess around with plugging the POD into the CD/MP3 jack and the "dummy" plug in the front...it may technically work, but it's a jury-rigged work-around, and not really what it's designed for...Just use either the L or R 1/4" out on the POD into the RETURN jack on your amp...should work just fine. This is what I would do for my old Vetta II as well: HD500X-> 1/4" outs-> Vetta II FX Loop Return. It sounded pretty good. Curiously, the Vetta II is an amp you have to trick with a 1/4" dummy plug in the input if you aren't going to use it.
scott93105
I think either 1/4 or 1/8 will produce the same results (with the proper cable) - won't they? I've found the HD500X using a trs cable (dual 1/4 mono to single 1/8 stereo) works great into amps with an 1/8 aux in. I use my Line 6 Studio 110 via the 1/8 aux in with my HD500X and it too requires a dummy 1/4" plugged into the input.
REI_ARTHUR
Thanks for the answers, guys. Guess I'll stick with the effects return. Just got curios about it and wanted to check how it sounds. I was more curious on what output should I use from the POD to Amp (regular1/4 or headphones out or another one)
Rewolf48
Use the 1/4 outs, and you will need a cable that will get you down to a stereo 1/8 or a combination of adaptors.
