Connecting Eleven Rack to Pod HD Pro X

Hello,

 

I have a Pod Pro X that I would like to use for effects only after an Eleven Rack that I just picked up.  What is the best way to connect the two together for no signal loss?

 

I could go S/PDIF out from 11R to the Pod,  or AES/EBU, Or I could just run one in the Effects loop of the other. 

 

Which one is the better way to go? I'm new to rack/recording stuff so I apologize if this is a simple question.

Depends on what you're wanting to use each one for. In theory, using one of the digital connections is always going to result in less noise and signal loss, because you're bypassing at least two D/A and A/D conversion steps. But if you want to use one in the loop of the other, then there's no way to get around using the analog ins and outs.

I was hoping to use the 11R for modeling and the Pod HD X for Effects. So just run the 11R out directly into the Pod.

This is the reason why, in the old days of 'pedals', we often had multiple of the same box >> so we could hook it up at various places in the chain. 

A flanger before the distortion sounds different than a flanger after the distortion. Your Pod and your 11 are going to need tested in various hookup scenarios before you find what works best for you.
