zztimn8r
I just picked up a new, though several years old, James Tyler Variax from a dealer when I was on vacation. In getting it home, and just now getting the time to play with it, download the WorkbenchHD, and have some fun. But I ran into a problem. The cable to connect the guitar to my MacBook Pro won't work. The older versions of the MacBook had a CAT5 port on them, but the new one doesn't! Any help on how I can accomplish this? Please let me know ASAP and I would appreciate it if you would also copy it to my email at ztimn8r@gmail.com so that I'm sure to get it. Thanks so much for your help! Have a great week! TheRealZap
you cant plug the guitar into a cat5 port anyway... it needs a specific interface or a pod.
jakeman19
You require a Variax USB interface to connect to the MacBook Pro. It's a specific piece you need from Line 6.
stevekc
Or another Line-6 device with the Variax VDI port POD HD500, HD500X, POD HD Pro or FireHawk
jpmull
You have to get one of the USB interfaces which will connect the JTV to the Macbook via USB - it looks like you have to get one with the Workshop Software: http://www.nstuffmusic.com/p-2455-line-6-workbench15ac-acoustic-15-variax-work-bench.aspx?gclid=CPOnv97Pg8YCFcITHwod8V0ATg But if I were you, I would put that money towards a POD HD500, HD500X, POD HD Pro or FireHawk. Perhaps you could find a used one on eBay, but I just did a quick search and came up empty handed. Good luck.
snhirsch
You may want to contact that dealer and find out why you didn't receive the interface device with the guitar. All JTV Variax instruments ship with the adapter and a programming cable (Ethercon on one end and RJ45 on the other).
