Dshow
Hi, Is it save to Plug and Unplug the Variax VDI cable while Helix is running? It shouldn't be a problem but just want to be sure - I'm always a little scared :-) and I don't like to damage Helix. Thanks
klangmaler
Never had any problem with that. If you plug in, sometimes you need to 'recall' the patch you use.
silverhead
Same here - no problem for me.
spikey
good to know! But one thing I did notice on the RACK UNIT- is that the Helix Control port and the Variax port are "right next to one another". And from the looks of the ports, they both appear to be using an RJ45 connector. Be careful what plugs into what or damage might occur! silverhead
.. Be careful what plugs into what or damage might occur! Good point. They both carry power too, and I don't know how the power delivered to Variax vs. Helix Control compare.
klangmaler
Again: You're talking about Helix RACK... Anyway, it's always better to check before you plug ;-)
spikey
Again: You're talking about Helix RACK... Anyway, it's always better to check before you plug ;-) Yes, I am. Since the OP didn't state which he had, and it wasn't mentioned yet that I can find that these ports were the same ON the RACK unit, and since the floor unit doesn't have a controller connection so "obviously" I was speaking about the Rack unit, I thought Id warn others about this. Just as I stated above... I assume thats ok? ;)
