mutato88
Hey guys, quick question. I recently grabbed a floor version of the line 6 Helix (yay). I was wondering if it were possible to run it through my existing scarlet 6i6 and, if so, how I would achieve this?
silverhead
Connect the Helix L/R audio outputs to one pair of the Scarlett L/R audio inputs. I would use the 1/4" outputs/inputs. Set the Helix 1/4" output level to Line.
MusicGeek
I've done something similar with an audio interface. I've used xlr output from Helix (as line out) to xlr input in the audio interface. Set the volume of the outputs in the Helix with the volume knob. In your Scarlett, you can use the front xlr inputs, and also you could use the two rear trs jacks, and probably the spdif digital input. By the way, I recomend you to use the Helix as audio interface, conected through its usb port to the computer.

I don't particularly if you are running a mac

silverhead
You could also use the Helx/6i6 s/pdif connections. You could do this instead of or in addition to the analog connections. For instance, you could record the processed wet signal over the analog connections while simultaneously recording the dry signal over s/pdif for later re-amping. How do you go about setting up the s/pdif to only carry the dry signal and not the full patch?
silverhead
How do you go about setting up the s/pdif to only carry the dry signal and not the full patch? I haven't tried it myself, but theoretically you create an empty path in the preset and set its output to s/pdif. For instance, create a Helix preset that uses Path 1 for guitar processing and Path 2 for the dry signal. In Path 1 Select Guitar as input, add whatever amp and FX processing you want as usual, and select the analog outputs (e.g. 1/4" outputs) at Line level, connected to the 6i6 analog inputs. In Path 2 select Guitar as input, do not add any amp or FX blocks, and select s/pdif as output connected to the 6i6 s/pdif input. In the DAW arm a stereo and mono track for recording. Select the appropriate 6i6 USB Send channels for the Record Input signals - the stereo processed signal and the s/pdif dry signal.

Yep that sounds plausible and pretty oblivious if I would have thought about it for a moment. Thanks for the input silverhead.
