alex_wahwah
Hi ! I have encountered a big problem. When i plug the Helix to the current socket , there is a strange noise in the PA , without turning it on. It is quite scary for me , cause i am in the middle of the tour and the whole gig is stored in the unit. Any advice please !! Kind Regards ! jpdennis
Can you describe the strange noise? <Hiss, buzz, hum, popping, ...>?? Or even quasar alien sounds? Just trying to get a feel for the type of noise. Can you record it with your phone or some other device and post it? Dennis

One of the most common sources of noise has been plugging the Helix into a channel that has the phantom power switched on. Make sure you don't have phantom power in the channel you plug your Helix into.

The sound guy told me to take it out cause he was affraid of burning the speakers. It was not constant and it first time appeared when i turned the Helix on . This happened once before ( 2 weeks before ) but after a restart all went well . This time it was starting to add parasites when i plugged in the DC Cable. Have the Sound Engineer pad the channel then you can check by starting Helix and switch to another preset. Run through three or four presets of various styles (clean, dirty, crunchy, crisp). If that doesn't local the initial problem then finding the root cause can be troublesome, so some troubleshooting; 1) Plugged into PA via 1/4 inch or XLR? a) If 1/4 inch go to 2 b) if XLR is Phantom power on at the board for your channel 2) Are you using multiple inputs or have you selected just the guitar input signal you want? a) if multiple try selecting just the input signal you use b) if just the one you use pad input 3) Try limiter on input signal 4) Place volume pedal at end of chain and set EXP to global so when the pedal is zeroed it starts that way then see if the sound is gone upon powerup. There are more items to check and there are wiser users in the forum than I. Hope this starts you n the path to solving your problem. Otherwise, it could be a job for Line 6 Support. rbum
I get an odd extra noise on my PA or stagesource speakers as long as an usb cable is plugged in and the laptop is on... you might check this too. Ralph
