spikey
Anyone got to make some Helix tones like this? If so Id like their setup info please. 55 Tweed
Dshow
I think the US Deluxe Nrm is the way to go since the Fender Deluxe Reverb is a reissue of the Tweed Deluxe.
robbieb61
Wow, that "Tape Slap Attack" preset is awesome...hell, they all are quite frankly.Never used the UAD stuff before. Impressive sounding.
zooey
Lots of romance to the name, and I really dig the Gretsch tones, but overall I don't care for how that amp breaks up, same with some of the vintage amps in Helix.
Charlie_Watt
Tweed Deluxe and Deluxe Reverb are actually quite different amps. One is cathode biased and the other is fixed bias. Both use 6L6 tubes. I have built clones of both amps and they are quite different.

Pretty much word for word what I was going to say. I've never managed slapback that tasty. Good stuff across the board!

Yes, the tweed Deluxe is night and day different from the blackface Deluxe. Tweed Fenders had a much more prominent midrange and broke up earlier and in a very different manner. DunedinDragon
Just listening to the sound and breakup characteristics I think the Bassman tweed might come closer than the Deluxe.
spikey
I may mess with that Tweed Bassman some time this week then, thanks! I may at some point get that amp plugin for the UaD Apollo, but I'd rather find it on Helix first.

Yeah I've made a bassman patch that sounds quite similar. I think with a little teaking it should be possible to get that desired tone. After all I think it isn't a big deal to replicate that sound from the video. Of course Josh Smith is ... well Josh Smith ;-)
