Mcsqunk
New to the forum and a longtime M13 user. I'm about ready to upgrade to helix but not 100% about the effects. I use the obi wah and some other filters on M13 but notice they are not included on the helix. Is there a possibility that they will be added in future? Thanks in advance
zooey
No specific knowledge, anything's possible, but I'd suggest buying Helix (or anything else) for what it is now, not what it may do in the future. Anything else is a recipe for heartache.
rvroberts
I personally would not get the Helix as a replacement for the M13. If you want all the extra capability from I/O to amp switching or more importantly, you want to replace your amp and go FRFR. then go Helix - but if you just want an effects unit to stick in front of your amp - stay with the M13. If you buy the Helix though, you can keep the M13 and still use any sound you like from it - patch it into the one of the send/return loops - no reason to ditch it if it makes some sounds you love. The Helix does a huge range of sounds, and it will do a lot more organic stuff than the M13 - like real amp distortion rather than overdrive - but it is not the most comprehensive range of effects on the planet! phil_m
I think the Helix so far surpasses the M13 as a multi-FX that it's not even a fair comparison... I mean, I love the M-series stuff - I still have two M13s and an M9, and I used to have an M5 - but the Helix does everything so well from a usability perspective, and I think that the Helix effects are just a step above. I really love the Helix drives, for instance, and I hardly ever used the drives on the M13. And snapshots make it so the Helix is really just at a completely different level than the M13. Yes, there are effects from the M-series that aren't on the Helix yet, but the Helix just has so many more positives. You could always get an M5 and put it one of the Helix's loops, and with the Helix's MIDI functionality, it would almost be like the M5 effects were inside the Helix. Mcsqunk
Yeah. I do just run the M13 in front of my amp and use it as a big delay/reverb pedal basically. Aside from using the filter stuff from time to time. I like the idea of the extra processing power though. I find when I run 3x delays and a verb there can be some weird digital artifacts in the m13. I kinda just thought that the helix would include all the same fx as the m13 plus all the extras
jbuhajla
The drive/distortion models in Helix are SO much better than the M series. And the Helix stacking a LOT of effects without a glitch.
spikey
You don't need to see the obi wah. These aren't the wahs you are looking for...
