The confusion which is iteration version numbers matching on Firmware and Editor

Just a casual observation, but it used to get me virtually every single time.

I'm about to update to firmware 2.12 AND editor 2.12.  While this seems like a good thing, there is latency between the two versions and that can create issues.  Perhaps switching one to something like 2.12.0 or at least explaining that these are two separate updates in the descriptions L6T so faithfully creates when he posts might help a few people whom I'm sure have ended up taking that shot of mescal which he prescribes in his nine-step disclaimer/warning.

I presume you mean v2.21 of both firmware and editor, not v2.12?

Yes, it would be good to always have the firmware and editor releases synchronized in terms of release numbers. I suspect that the lag this time was due to a driver update required to fix a bug with the editor and Workbench HD running simultaneously. Since the driver is packaged with the editor, they didn't want to release the v2.20 editor package until the driver was available. Nor did they want to delay the release of the firmware until the driver (required only for Variax owners) was updated. So the v2.20 firmware was released when it was ready and the v2.20 editor release was delayed.

But that's only my speculation, based on the driver v1.86 release notes.

Or, they simply could have released 2.21 for everything, and when any sort of a patch issues to *any* of the components (Editor, Firmware, Driver, Updater) simply increment to the next meaningful number. If very minimal, for example, go to 2.21.1. If more significant, go to 2.22.

This has been working for many software companies for decades! Some have even gone with Julian Date Numbering.

Yes, of course I meant 2.21.  It was just an observation, no big.
