marco767676
I have just purchased the helix lt lt came with last firmware already from the factory i have connected it to a dbr12 yamaha, single cab everything is setted to line on the cab and the helix too ,through an xlr cable, the issue is that volume is very low and I have to push the master volume on the helix all the way up to get a decent volume, same thing also if I connect it with a jack cable , same behaviour , even if I push master volume on the helix still something is wrong in terms of volume, but as soon as I disable the setting in the Volume Knob Controls for the xlr or 1/4" outputs whichever I am using in that moment, in the general settings ins and out, I can then get a very pleasing full volume, off course I cannot control the general master volume on the helix but I have to control through the master volume on my yamaha cab is that a normal procedure ? I guess that when you disable Volume Knob Controls, that means that volume on helix is at its maximum , correct ? is there something wrong with my unit ??? thank you for your prompt reply aside from that , I am very pleased , great piece of gear !!!! MusicLaw
The Yamaha DXR line accepts a wide range of input signal level sensitivity. It also has a very convenient and informative input overload indicator. If you choose to leave the Yamaha's Input Sensitivity switch set to Line Level, you may then set the Input Level control on the DXR and the Helix as desired. This also with the Helix Main Out set to Line Level. If you want thunderous levels from your DXR set it's Input Sensitivity switch to Mic and turn down the Input Level control. Also, be sure to turn down your Helix Main output Volume Level knob.
rvroberts
The output level on the Helix - both XLRs and 1/4" are assignable in the interface. Use the manual - if you search the manual (it's a PDF, so you should be able to just do a search like on any PDF - or just go to quick start page 9) - and you will get how to set the output to line or mic - sounds like yours is set to mic - you could set your monitor to mic - but it is probably better to set everything to line. DunedinDragon
I use a DXR12 as my monitor. All of my global outputs are set to the default setting of Line and both the XLR and 1/4" outputs are controlled by the Helix Master Volume. In performances I run the 1/4" out L/Mono to the DXR12 (set to line level input) and the XLR L/Mono out to the mixing board. There has never been a problem with this because all of my patches are normalized to the same volume output with my Helix master volume knob at the 11 o'clock position. I leave my DXR12 volume at 12 o'clock and at the board the signal is gain staged appropriately to the correct level to match the rest of the band. This has never been a problem as long as you're dealing with a competent sound man who understands the basic principles of signal gain staging. Otherwise you may need to tutor him in how to gain stage an incoming signal, and then promptly tell management they're dealing with an untrained clown running the sound.
