Output Quesrion

My Helix has been working perfectly, however; this morning prior to the worship service I couldn't get a signal out of the XLR. Unplugged and plugged XLR cable and had signal and went through sound check and practice - prefect. Engaged tuner and waited for service. Service begins and check timing but when performance starts - no signal. At practice after service used different cables, unplugged wireless instrument unit and used instrument cable, tried different channel and no signal. Bypassed Helix and went into DI and had signal to mixer.

Any thoughts?

It could be a dead XLR port on the Helix, but there's not enough here to figure that out.  Questions I would have are, did you try both XLR out's (left and right) on the Helix?  When you say you bypassed the Helix through DI what did that entail..i.e. you didn't use the Helix at all?  Did you try using the 1/4 out into a DI box to the mixer?  Did you check your global output configurations?  Although that's not likely given that it worked for a whlie then didn't work.

Got home and discovered the issue. If you ever have a problem like this and check everything - you should also check new person running the mixer. My unit is working perfectly; it was a sound person with their head in a very dark place.

Thank you for the reply.

Lol...usually this kind of thing is reserved for those fine establishments where the "sound man" is the same guy who refills the giant tubs of ice cubes behind the bar. I've played my share of places like that...always any adventure. ;)

Yep, that what happens when using volunteers at church for running sound. This past Sunday we had a new volunteer feeling adventurous. We could hear some changes being made during service in our ears in the middle of a song. Then all of a sudden, EVERYTHING goes dead. He managed to mute the mains and monitors for about 15 seconds. Luckily our worship pastor keep going on his acoustic and we all picked back up when sound came back, didn't miss a lick. We run fully isolated so you see everyone immediately messing around with their in ears thinking they accidentally unplugged their cord or something.

This is the reason I encourage people using this type of technology to get familiar with PA sound boards.  That way you can ask the sound person relevant questions about the setup of your channel.

Yes, or go check it for yourself. I noticed my sound was "off" during rehearsal one week. I checked on my channel on our board (Behringer X32), and someone had scooped the mids on the EQ on my channel, where as usually it was just flat. I flattened it back out.
