gtrnstuff
Just wondering if this is a known thing that I have to live with, or are there workarounds. Playing through a snapshot with 1/4 note ducked delay active, "trails" on. Change to another snapshot, same delay but 1/8 note value, bypassed or active. A brief repeat, pitched higher, at the same volume as the delay. The pitch varies depending on the note value of the delay in the second snapshot. If it is set to the same delay time/note value, no glitch. Of course, switching "trails" off mutes the pitch glitch, but I like trails on in general. And of course, keeping the same delay time for that effect in all snapshots fixes it. Also I set my delay/ tap tempo pref to transparent, but it's the same with authentic. I suppose using two delays set to different note values would also fix it. Trying not to use up processor power for that. Anything I haven't thought of? silverhead
I'm not sure there's anything to 'fix'. This sounds like the kind of behaviour I would expect if I were to manually change a delay time instantaneously while the delay is on. This is exactly what's happening when you change snapshots as described. To experiment try changing the delay time manually while in the first snapshot. Without changing snapshots, quickly change the delay time parameter by rotating the associated knob. What do you hear? I would think that is normal behaviour and the same thing would happen with the modelled analog pedal. Have you tried using two different instances of the delay FX with the different delay times in each snapshot? Leave trails on but setup the snapshots so that only one delay is active at a time. That way you won't actually be changing the delay time parameter in the same instance of the FX; you will be turning one off (still hearing its delay trails) while turning the other on.
jbuhajla
The "transparent" parameter for delay changes does not make the glitchy sounds go away altogether, it just decreases them. Changing the note value of the delay is a pretty extreme instantaneous parameter change, so you will probably still have some glitchy sound from it. plumber
yes this is exactly what I'd expect it to do
davidb7170
If you want a workaround, try having 2 instances of the delay in series, if you have enough DSP resources. Set one for the parameter you want on your first snapshot, and the second for the second snapshot, both with trails on, then bypass the one you want off per snapshot. I do this sometimes in amp setups where my parameters of drive and channel volume are quite different in the snapshots and cause an audible volume bump when changing between the 2 extreme. To save DSP, I use the 2 amps into a speaker block instead of 2 amp/speaker instances. If DSP is a problem, put one delay on path 1 and one on path 2 to split the load onto the 2 DSP's.... My 2 cents.... Dave
