CraigGT
Do yourself a favour and spend $3 on a right angled USB cable before it's too late! I knocked my plug and broke the connector and even though I have the soldering skills, the socket was a pain to replace. A right angle plug eliminates the possibility of it happening again Craig

Joepeggio
Great advice. In fact, I use all right angle cords if there's room.
tedulrich
Now that my Helix Floor is finally moving to the actual floor, and not on top of my rack (kicking myself for not buying a Helix Rack to begin with), I'm in the process of designing a floor board with a cable blind specifically for that concern. I just need to settle on how wide I'm going to make it.
mikisb
Great hint, same with the POD HD. I always wondered how standard USB plugs go together with a floor unit in stage use - it's even to fragile at home. Alternative hint: Only plug the USB cable when you really need it. CraigGT
Alternative hint: Only plug the USB cable when you really need it. Good point but we never do :-)
mikisb
well - i learned to do it after soldering a new port in my HD500 while frying some SMD parts located directly beside the socket
CraigGT
There's no smd's nearby in the Helix but it was still a difficult job, a desoldering station would have made it easier.
