DunedinDragon
I upgraded my recording studio Helix the other day and all went well with the exception that my settings for stomp buttons wasn't maintained and I was thrown into 4 stomps and 4 snaps. Not a big deal, I just reset them. But I don't really have a lot of customized global settings on this machine. This morning I upgraded my live performance Helix using the same process (backup, updater, restore) and again the stomp button settings weren't retained, but neither were the settings on my Global ins/outs. I normally have this set to 1/4" Line, XLR Mic, and Master volume only affects the 1/4" output. Instead these were set to what appears to be the standard default settings. The only difference in this case is during the restore I only selected Global Settings, not Presets and not IRs. I did notice on my recording Helix that it was re-initializing my presets whenever I turned it on. I did a save of one of my presets using the hardware button on the Helix and it never occurred again. This time with the live performance Helix I immediately did a hardware save of one of my presets and after turning it off and turning it back on there was no re-initialization of the presets just like it did with the recording Helix. I'm beginning to think a couple of bugs may have snuck through at least on the backup and restore process.....
specracer986
I don't want to beleaguer the point, but I definitely UNCHCECKED Factory set lists from the restore I did, yet I had no new patches for the new amps when I went searching. I had to import a new factory set list. So I agree, there seems to be some erratic results with the restore feature.
njglover
I also unchecked the factory set lists when I restored, but I didn't actually check to see what was there as I never use those. The master volume control global setting did not seem to be preserved and the USB setting (can't remember which one...) was a little odd, displayed "5" instead of "Multi" or something else. Minor things, but the bigger issue I have been having is oddities with the screen. This seems to happen every time I adjust the high cut on an IR block and possibly also on regular cab blocks. I adjusted the cut, then went to change an effect and my entire screen went blank. The footswitches also seemed to become unresponsive, or at least the LED rings did not reflect the actual status. Sound was still passing through though. I rebooted and everything was fine until I adjusted the high cut on another block. The arrow on the far left of path 2 (a down arrow that indicates the signal is coming from path 1) got cut off, like the right half of the arrow head disappeared. Saving the changes did not restore the arrow head. However, I switched presets rather than try to edit any additional blocks and this time I successfully switched and the screen fixed itself. Very odd. Suppose I should've waited to upgrade until after I record my parts for the album we are working on... oh well, should still work fine for that. zooey
When I restored from backup after I upgraded, I didn't notice that you could import only certain setlists, so that overwrote the new factory ones. When I figured that out, I did the "Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs", thing, then restored from backups again, but not the factory setlists, and now I have them. They're not wildly different I think, but there is some new stuff. My USB out setting got set to that bogus "5" value that doesn't work, as did I think everyone's. I think my stomps/snaps seeing was retained, but there's some chance I just fixed it without thinking. As for going unresponsive, I started a separate thread about my version of that. Different sequence of actions, not 100% nailed down what similar circumstances don't do it, but in the context it was happening, it was 100% repeatable. I had this same thing happen. the USB displayed "5". funny. I didn't get the other things you mentioned except some squirrelly stompbox rings/states that went away after a reboot... willjrock
I wish i could offer some helpful advice to you guys, but then the fix would probably be simple if i could. I only have my own anomalies to talk about. My update came off without a hitch as they almost always do, but the only thing i noticed was - yesterday was the first time ive turned my helix off since updating. When i arrived home from work and turned it on, it rebuilt all the presets again. Didnt make any difference to anything just a longer than usual wait til boot. I wanted to shut it off and try it again, but was having too much fun with brit Trem . Even as a guy more drawn to mid to higher gain tones, for the first time since owning Helix ( a year and a half-ish) with this amp, i just want to play guitar as opposed to dialing tones. I literally have never cared to jam on a patch until brit trem.

I did notice that it went away after my first save by pressing the save button on the Helix.
