HX Effects - Gap when changing presets

Hi everyone,

I'm a long time L6 products user, but am considering buying the HX Effects to go with my valve amp, and control channel switching via MIDI. I currently own a M13, and can do it free of hassle.

I already know snapshots is the way to ensure seamless patch changes, but since I don't want to delve into it right away, is there a noticeable gap in sound when changing presets?

Thanks in advance!

There's always gonna be a gap when switching presets...how noticeable it'll be will depend largely on what's being toggled on and off, or how dramatic the change in effect parameters is from one preset to the next. Sometimes you'll notice it more than others...

Just use snapshots. There's really not a whole hell of a lot of "delving" to do, and nothing particularly mysterious about them. They're stupid easy to use, and then none of this is will be an issue.

There's a gap, but how noticeable it is depends on how picky you are, I guess. The max gap is around 43ms or something like that. That's actually less than half the switching gap on the other Helix products. Since the HX Effects is a single processor product, reloading time is going to inherently faster.

If you are going to let a big chord hang out there and switch presets mid chord, then yes you will notice. If you are going to change presets in an appropriate musical gap during a song, then you will not notice it.
