Mole351
Hi all. I apologize in advance if this has already been answered or discussed (I did not see it when searching). I cannot seem to get the 4CM to work on my new HX FX unit. Admittedly I am a newb in both using an effects loop as well as attempting the 4CM. That said - I feel confident I have the cables hooked up correctly, and am sending correctly. When I turn everything on however, it seems everything is running through the loop on the amp - it does not matter if I have anything plugged into the front of the amp. The effects I am trying to send to the front still sound when the front of the amp is unplugged - and they are very present in the loop. My setup - I've split the signal, with the effects I want in the front on the "second" or "bottom" line in the display and have the "Send 1" box on that same line. The effects I want in the amp's loop are on the top line with no "send" box included. My cables are: #1 Guitar into the HX input #2 Send 1 on the HX to the front of the amp #3 Main Output from the HX to the amp's FX return #4 Amp's FX send to Return 1 on the HX unit The "Send" option is lit/selected when looking at my effects. Any ideas what could be going on? I'd think if nothing else the effects I'm sending to the front of the amp shouldn't be audible when I unplug that input in the front of the amp? phil_m
You don’t need to use a split path for the 4CM. There’s a video on YouTube where a guy is supposedly demonstrating the 4CM with a Katana amp and does this, and I have no idea what he’s trying to do, but whatever he’s doing, it’s confused a lot of people. All you need to do is put a single FX Loop block in your signal chain (not separate Send and Return blocks). Anything before the FX Loop block will be in front of your amp, and anything after it will be in its loop. It’s as simple as that. The cable connections you have shown are correct. Just use a single path and a single FX Loop block, and it should be fine.
Mole351
yessir - that worked - thank you! I guess if I had read the manual vs using youtube i might have had better results. that was in fact the video i was using (as you probably deduced). looks like it is now gone though... thanks again! johnmitchellfox
Hi there, sorry for being a bit of a pain but can I just clarify the FX loop block issue...I get the idea of just using one block for the FX loop but do I select SEND 1 which displays a single upward arrow in the icon or must I select .EFFECTS LOOP 1 or 2 which displays arrows going in either direction. Look forward to your reply.

You need to select LOOP 1 (or 2 depending on which one you want to use). If you only setup a SEND, nothing gets returned to the HX Effects.... it doesn't complete the LOOP. VirtualGuitars
See my reply to this other post here with an example of cabling and a basic patch: Hopefully this will help you.
