update firmware 2.54

Recommended Posts

Can someone guide me to a place where I can see a complete step by step guide to updating to 2.54 firmware. I see some videos for 2.3 but not 2.54. This is for a friend of mine who has a windows machine and is a complete newbie. I have already updated on my Mac a few weeks ago and it was a complete ordeal trying to figure it out - he's totally new so if someone can help show me the simple, yet elusive step by step guide I'd be eternally grateful

The process is the same no matter the machine. You install the Updater on your machine, connect Helix via USB, and run updater.

Thanks but were talking about a newbie here. Where do you get the updater from? Surely Line6 has an instruction page somewhere?

This video by Glenn DeLaune helped me.

Just have the newbie follow step by step pausing the video when needed.

What if you have an old Firmware version running on your Helix?  I currently am running 2.00 on my Helix and want to update to the latest version...but, not sure the latest udater is compatible with Firmware 2.00.  Also, want to back up my settings, IR's first...what software do I need to install to do that??

Confused.

Yes if you download and install the latest Helix Updater version 1.14 you'll be good to go. All you have to do to back up your patches & IR's this: Set up a folder on your desktop. Then all you do is drag them from the Helix editor into that folder on your desktop. It would probably be helpful to make 2 folders in that main folder. 1 named Patches and 1 named IR's. Then follow my guide video (I guess I should update that, but it's the same process!!) It is important though the PLEASE BACK-UP YOUR PATCHES AND IR'S BEFORE DOING THIS!!
