rye715
Hi to all. I have been having a major problem with my HD500x when I use it as both audio interface and sound card/playback with my PC. I noticed at first that whenever I use a DAW (Audacity and Reaper) for recording, the whole PC freezes for like 2-3 seconds while I am recording. Worse, even if I am not recording and just playing with a BT via Winamp, VLC and WMPlayer, the freezing still occurs randomly. I've done the folllowing : 1. Reformatted my PC fresh and updated all drivers. 2. Updated all drivers in my Line6 Monkey. 3. Installed fresh Audacity. 4. Tried 5 USB cables to connect HD500x to PC. 5. Closed all other apps and anti-virus software while recording. 6. Minimized my patch's DSP. Here's my setup : Guitar -> HD500x -> PC (via USB) Speakers are connected to HD500x via the Phones port. Here's from my dxdiag : Operating System: Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_ldr_escrow.181110-1429) Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz Memory: 8192MB RAM Available OS Memory: 3328MB RAM Page File: 1909MB used, 4742MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11 Please help!!! Thank you.
joel_brown
Update the BIOS on the PC. Make sure you're not running ASIO4ALL.sys Looks like you've done everything else.
codamedia
I didn't see any mention of trying different USB ports during your troubleshooting.... that's an important step, not just trying different cables. Also... If you can find the device manager, right click on each "Root Controller" (under the USB area), go to the power management tab, and make sure the computer is not allowed to save power with this device. Wording varies from OS to OS... I don't recall what it is on Windows 7.
kisshell9
I have just recently tried to make a small home studio with hd500x as my central piece for audio processing and i got into lot of issue with windows 10. Constant bsod with reaper and sometimes freezing like u have. So i fixed all those issue by keeping my laptop at high performance instead of power saver or balanced. Today again, i started having the same issue. Turns out the issue was caused again by enabling my laptop mic for recording. I remembered i had enabled my laptop mic for some skype. So i disabled the laptop mic and also disbaled my speaker for playback. So make sure you have disabled all other audio speaker and mic when u use hd500x with your daw. Also make sure to use pod asio and uninstall asio4all if u have it. I was almost about to get a ur22 audio interface coz its black friday and i can get it for lot cheaper. But i am glad i found the root issue and i didnt have to buy another audio interface. Also i use 256 buffer size. No latency whatsoever. Hope this helps. cage771
Check the settings in control panel for the USB ports. Disable any power saving feature. Make sure that you aren't using a hub. Also, try different USB ports on the computer. Using the ones directly on the motherboard (typically the ones in the rear) are going to be the best option. The front facing ports can be tied together before going to the motherboard (a hub). Out of curiosity, do you know version of USB ports you are using? For example, 1.1, 2.0, or 3.0. 3.0 ports, when built into a motherboard, are blue. Case mounted can be any color due to application. I have seen issues with 2.0 USB devices not liking to work on 3.0 ports. The specs that you provided indicate a solid machine for what you want to do. Is this a home built machine or an off the shelf Dell?
