designedbylucas
Hello everyone, and please I excuse myself in advance since I am sure this is not just a stupid but also old question. A while ago I bought the PODHD500X. Great floor unit. But man! Lately I bought a Fender Twin Reverb 65. The results are impossible. The only way to use the Pod is by eliminating the AMP CABS and that is actually the flavor of the unit. So I was wondering; I own a Carvin 12 inputs powered mixer with 1700 wats which I can use with 2 ‘15 speakers at 8ohms. Could I leave my Fender behind and use my Carvin instead? pianoguyy
Well, um, that is actually how you are to do it. You don't want to put a [virtual] amp/cab/mic into a [physical] amp/cab/mic. You want a neutral system so that you can hear what you are programming.
joel_brown
I use a PODHD into a Marshall and cab and only use the pre version of the PODHD amps and no cab simulation. I also plug the PODHD into the effects return of the Marshall. But the nice thing about the PODHD is that you can configure it to use about any kind of amp and cab. That's why the presets typically don't sound very good because the amp and cab you use can change the tone dramatically.
stormstudios
Lots of good advice here, so try the various solutions provided above. I use a Twin Reverb 65 Reissue. it has always been my amp and my sound since I started. Over the years I've used pedal boards, Zoom devices, Eleven Rack with a Pod HD Pro, etc. But I needed a rig I could travel with too, so...voila...the HD500X. I thought I'd share my perspective as well. Your best bet will always be a full range flat response system with the 500X. However, to best utilize the amp, I create all my patches for new songs with the Pre-Amp model of the Twin Reverb and dial in all the effects coming out of the actual TR amp. Then I save the patch and add the amp/cab sim of the TR into the chain and have a direct / alternate version I can use when I travel. I got pretty good at understanding how the TR sim can be dialed in to match my real amp in a real space. You could also try that as a solution. I't a shame to leave such a gorgeous sounding amp behind.
