Wenik Posted January 4, 2019 Share Posted January 4, 2019 Hello guys! I would like to ask a question. I have a shure sm58 microphone and i would like to connect it to my laptop. I have a Innogear phantom power supplay, an XLR to XLR cabel, and XLR to 6,3mm jack cabel, 6,3mm to 3,5mm converter and a USB soundcard. SO that is the setup and i would like to connect it to my laptop. I connected the mic but its not working The mic is working as a headphone if i plug it in the headphone jack so i think the microphone is working Could you guys please help me? Gaz_Ham Posted January 4, 2019 Share Posted January 4, 2019 If you are using a line6 usb soundcard, you will need to turn the input volume right up or use podfarm /gearbox/helix boost the volume. fflbrgst Posted January 7, 2019 Share Posted January 7, 2019 It sounds like you are plugging the mic directly into the laptop, not into the USB soundcard. The soundcard (or audio interface) should have an ZLR input jack - this would indicate it has a mic preamp in it. If it only has a 1/8" (3.5mm) jack, it may not.
