loonwail
I have a dilema. I have a beautiful cherry red Variax 500 that is cosmetically in excellent condition but I was told the pcb was bad and I cannot find one unless I find a 500 that someone wants to sell that has different problem that wants to sell theirs. Or another option would be to sell mine because everything else is in such good condition. Does anyone repair these circuit boards? I hope someone could help me with this problem. Thanks
TheRealZap
you'd have a real hard time finding anyone to fix the PCB on those... i'm pretty sure that most service centers would want to replace the whole board.. which may be problematic, as far as getting parts. you can of course try the service centers... but i'd find a proper electronics repair shop locally... if it's not a critical issue, there may be some common parts they can replace at the component level. probably cost around 50-100$ just for the bench time... which may include fixing it if the issue is simple enough... of course that's just my guess... as i don't set their prices. tmthyknowles
Hi, I'm surprised that line 6 would no longer support their products. They are usually so eager to keep customers with older products so happy. This is quite tongue in cheek of course. Line 6 has always stopped supporting products over a couple of years old. They want you to buy the new one. Good luck even finding a post related to your dilemma. Tim
TheRealZap
every company stops supporting things eventually... apple does this quite frequently... for example.
Charlie_Watt
If you send it in they will replace the PCB. You probably will not like the price you have to pay though.
clay-man
If you send it in they will replace the PCB. You probably will not like the price you have to pay though. I've been seeing a lot of people sending in their old Variaxes and getting them repaired, yes. I don't see why you can't if others can. But like Charlie said, I'm sure it'll be an annoying price to pay.

boloulu
ask your local Line6 service center to order the PCB for you and be careful installing it. watch that you don't damage the bridge ribbon cable it's fragile.
amx05462
ive noticed that on full compass the cable for the bridge n the jtv is like the one was in my 300. no ribbon solid wire.. that being said are you looking for the main board or the board under the bridge. the second is avalable at full compass. and theres a main board for the accoustic. they do say it wont work with the electric models. but the only real difference i see is there is no plug in for the electric model pickups. that being said the wires could easily be soldered in place because the holes are there. i dont imagine it comes pre programmed. so you would have to load up the software just like re loading the electric program on an existing guitar. but theres no way of knowing for sure... then again i dont see line 6 making any big changes when they dont have to from model to model.. if you could get photos of the older line 6 main boards from 5 6 and 700 guitars you would notice very little change from one to the other. bdprod
And that's why you should never buy a Variax. And why I won't buy another Line 6 product.
