ArcyltheRed
So with the new update everything has been fine except I guess there is a setting somewhere that got switched that is keeping me from being able to play through my computer. I used to be able to plug my guitar into my Helix, the Helix into my computer (PC) with the USB cable, and then be able to listen to the Helix and a Youtube video at the same time through headphones connected to my computer. Now I can't find the setting that is not letting me do this. I can see that The Helix becomes the default input device for sound and when I strum I can see it detecting sound but I can't hear it. Does anyone know what exact settings are needed to be able to do this?
silverhead
Why not just plug your headphones into Helix? That's the usual setup and will achieve what you want.
DunedinDragon
Assuming you made a backup of your Helix prior to doing the upgrade, just run HX Edit and select Restore Backup from the File menu. There you can specifically select to restore only Globals. If you didn't do the backup....well, I'd have to say I'm impressed you were able to ignore the 3,000 warnings in the instructions and in the update. Either way, you'll have to figure out what's messed up if it is in the globals. My money is on the USB or USB cable. If HX Edit is unable to detect your Helix, that's likely the problem and you probably need to change to a different USB port on your computer. If you're on Windows the last pace to look is in you sound configuration to see if Windows has the Helix selected as it's sound device. None of the above is related to your update other than ignoring the instructions that the globals would be re-set by the upgrade so you should restore them from your backup.

I guess I will have to try this, I did make a backup. I didn't know I could have it only restore global settings, I've only had the Helix for about 2 weeks now I'm not incredibly familiar with it yet. Even so I feel like there's probably just one setting that I could flip to make it work they way it did and I'd like to know what it is. I guess I will have to try this again because the last time I did this I was only able to hear my guitar and not whatever was playing on my computer. Which is why I would listen through my computer because both my guitar and music playing on my computer would come through. I've only had the Helix a couple of weeks and don't know the ins and outs of it yet.
silverhead
When you connect Helix to your PC via usb, and headphones to Helix, you should hear both Helix and PC audio. If you can't hear your PC check the PC audio volume control; that's how you control/mix the audio levels.
rd2rk
In the Windows Sound Panel, select the Helix as your Soundcard. In Helix Globals-Ins/Outs set USB 1/2 Destination to Multi. Plug your Headphones into the Helix.
