slaughlin1103 Posted September 1, 2019 Share Posted September 1, 2019 Hey Guys, Was trying to update my Helix to latest software and I crashed. I am stuck in update mode and holding down pedals 8,9 or 9,10 during start up wont work just keeps going to update mode and has a red 3 in top left corner. HX edit and updater do not even recognize Helix. I did make a back up just cant get to it. Also tried different usb cables and connections. Hi, When you put in a request for help, it’s a great help for others to know what computer and operating system you are using. Furthermore you don’t give us a clue as to what firmware revision you are attempting to update from, even though you are trying to install v2.81.0? I’m going to guess that you are using a PC running Windows - if that’s the case then I suggest that you check this thread for a possible solution. You are not alone and the answer is out there (as someone said). Anyhow this took me less than a minute to find and it has had almost 9,000 views and over 120 replies. There are several other threads on here with the same, or similar stories, so if this doesn’t help - keep looking. Clue: Hold down FS6&12 while restarting the Helix. Make sure HX Edit is closed. Open the Updater and run the installation again. This should replace the drivers that got screwed during the Core swap over. READ THIS! codamedia Posted September 1, 2019 Share Posted September 1, 2019 I am not saying this is your problem, but please double check to make sure you have done the following.... and don't make any assumptions, double/triple check! Disconnect the Helix from the computer Download and Install the latest version of HX Edit (2.81 as of this reply) During install.... DO NOT uncheck any of the options. Just install the entire package.... DO NOT open HX Edit..... The updater will run into problems if HX Edit is open! When that is complete.... Connect the Helix, Start the Helix and run the UPDATER again. If the updater still cannot see the Helix, restart the HELIX with FS6 & FS12 pressed then restart the updater. Was trying to update to 2.80. I did spend time looking trying different pedal combinations and downloads. Anyway, tried FS6 & 12 with update as you mentioned and was running again in minutes! datacomando, can not thank you enough for your time and solution.
