rutter Posted January 6, 2020 Share Posted January 6, 2020 I'm wanting to switch between using normal guitar using 1/4 jack, and my jtv using vdi cable, but using same patches. my problem is that the jtv is much louder. Is there any way to turn up the 1/4 jack level or turn down the vdi input to level them so the volumes are the same no matter which guitar I use? phil_m Posted January 6, 2020 Share Posted January 6, 2020 First thing would be to double-check that you don't have the Input Pad on in the Global Settings menu. If it's off, than you have a few options. You can insert a Gain block to compensate for your other guitar. The other option, I guess would be to adjust the string volumes for the Variax. With the 2.80 update, you can control the Variax string volumes from the Helix. You just do that be going into the Variax tab on the Input Block. I thought about adjusting string volume but that wouldn't change volume of jtv when using own pickups, but as a last resort that was gonna be the plan! What other options are there when turning off input pad? I don't no much about it other than a lot of people recommend having it on. You mentioned inserting gain block, I'm assuming that would have to be in every patch? is there a way to have it turn on/off automatically depending which guitar used or would it have to be done manually every time you change patch? Your problem is INPUT... the global EQ is at the OUTPUT. IMO... it has a very specific "global" function to do... your problem is not "global".
