dinodan94
Hi All, Long time lurker, first time poster here. I got a condenser microphone and have found a really weird issue with my Helix Rack, hoping that maybe someone has encountered similar and may be able to help. Tried to Google the symptoms but wasn't able to find anything so thought I would make a post instead of continuing to pull my hair out! In short, I can only use the Helix as input OR output in Windows, one or the other. If I can hear my PC audio, Windows can't see any microphone input, and if Windows sees the microphone input, I hear no PC Audio coming through the Helix. Running the play audio test within the windows sound control panel fails if the Microphone is working. Interestingly, if I restart my PC and open audacity, I am able to record and play back audio. As soon as I open the sound control panel, or try to use VOIP like discord, the issue immediately appears. Helix and PC are fully up to date, have ASIO4ALL installed on the PC. Was able to replicate the issue on my, also fully up to date, no ASIO4ALL installed. Both are running Win 10 Pro I was able to simultaneously use microphone input whilst having the PC audio output come through on an old TASCAM US-1641 that I have, so it feels like an issue with Windows and the Helix, has anyone encountered anything similar? Can provide screenshots or further info if required. Thanks, Dan
phil_m
ASIO4ALL is most likely the issue. Why are you using it and not the Line 6 drivers?
silverhead
The Helix driver is a fully compliant ASIO driver. The ASIO protocol dictates that the same audio device must be used for both input and output. Hence what you are observing is not only normal, but required, behaviour under ASIO. ASIO4ALL is a non-compliant pseudo-ASIO driver that is known to cause issues when used with the compliant Line 6 devices. It is not supported. Thanks for any clarification Dennis Hi Dennis, That's right, on the other system I am just using the Helix drivers and am encountering the same issue when using that machine. Looks like the general consensus is that I should scrap ASIO4ALL on my main machine, I couldn't get the TASCAM to work properly without it and is a relic from that set up. I'll uninstall it and do some further testing. Thanks, Dan
