jamsa
I have never owned a cell phone or ipod or ipad type device. But, now I own a AmplIFi 150, so I guess I better get something, right? I do not need a phone, unless you have to have one. Please make some suggestions as to a simple basic device, low cost is good, which i can use mainly just for the AmpliFi. thanks! charlyg
I think the iPad mini is a great buy. It is not the newest/fastest processor but I have the 64gb and have no issues with the music I make/record. I use a big screen Android phone, and leave the mini at home just for music. One caveat, I don't use it live......as yet.
phil_m
The list of compatible devices is as follows: · iPhone 5s · iPhone 5c · iPhone 5 · iPhone 4s · iPhone 4 · iPad 4th gen · iPad 3rd gen · iPad 2 · iPad mini · iPod 5th gen If you talking about getting something new, a 5th generation iPod Touch is probably going to be the least expensive option. They go for about $225. Other than that, you could probably pick up one of the older iPad or iPad Minis used for cheaper. Or as mentioned above, a new iPad Mini might be more useful overall. It really depends on how much you'll think you use the device.
archtopeddy
And -- just as a sanity check and to pick up on what Phil and Charly suggested -- remember that there are iPhone, iPad, and IPod models that DO NOT support AMPLIFI since they cannot load IOS 7. For example, the first generation iPod comes to mind. Be sure you stick with the items listed in Phil's post. AE
joec63
If you don't need the phone I would choose the ipad, just for more screen real estate.
bilbosmeggins
Don't just think of getting an ipad for Amplifi only. Think of it as opening the door for a whole host of musical goodness. I've got a 32gb ipad that is positively brimming with music apps. Trainers, lessons, backing, amp-modellers, loopers, fx, tabs, chord trainers etc. Many of the apps will integrate seamlessly with each other via Audio Bus. The ipad is one of the few items I have that I would replace in a heart-beat if it were ever lost/stolen/damaged. And the fact that it now controls my Amplifier is a nice bonus.
