gweb
Hi all, I see some issues people are having with the Global Spillover ON, but nothing the same as the issue I'm experiencing. I've been using the Helix LT for a few years and have been able to resolve any problems on my own or by using the forum search, but I'm stumped on this problem. After the latest update (3.11) I decided to try the Global Spillover function, which works great by the way...but...I have my wah set to turn on/off at 5%. It seems that the heal position is acting like a hard on/off switch, not as an auto on/off. The wah will be off, I sweep from heal to toe and it does not turn on until I return to heal. It then stays on until I sweep heal to toe again, and it then turns off at the heal position. I switch to another preset and the wah works as intended, on/off at 5%. Switch to another preset and the same problem arises. Go back to the preset that worked correctly before and it now does not. It seems to randomly cause problems from preset to preset and does not follow any pattern that I can see as to when it will work as intended or not. Switch the Global Spillover OFF and the wah settings work perfectly. I removed the external expression pedal and switched everything to the onboard pedal with the same results. Whammy has the same problem. I did a factory reset twice with no luck. I've tried a few random things to get around it, reversing the pedal polarity, changing the bypass percentage, rebuilding presets from scratch. I now have the wah bypass set to stomp button which works but isn't ideal. Hopefully I'm just missing something simple. Thanks, Greg
phil_m
I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying the issue is… Are you saying that the position along the sweep where the wah is turning on and off is changing? Are the Position and Wait parameters for the auto engage function set to the same values in all your presets?
gweb
I use a very basic setup. Only 8 presets and wah settings are the same for all presets. Instead of turning on above 5% and then off below 5%, the wah will be off at 0% and will not turn on above 5%, but will turn on when I return to 0%. At that point it will stay on 0-100% and will turn off when I return to 0%, like it normally should, but then it will stay off 0-100% and only turn on again when I return to 0. It's like the 0-5% is acting like a latching switch instead of a momentary switch. The wah is either always on or always off. This only happens when the Global Spillover is ON. It works correctly with the spillover OFF. I can try to post a short video of it tonight if that helps.

phil_m
Yeah, probably a bug... Opening a support ticket is the best way to get in front of the right people.
theElevators
Here's what you need to do to get this to work as expected. The problem is that EXP pedal does not know which way is "on" and which way is "off". EXP pedal just flips the value of on/off. It just negates the on/off status of what it's currently saved as in the snapshot. It's a pain in the neck. I wish you could just say "above 5 is on, below 4 is off". Instead, it is more like "above 5, flip the on/off value, below 4 return to the saved state" But! here's what you need to do: IN EACH preset, turn off the wah-block, and save it as such. I think this is what is causing the issue for you. Some presets have it enabled, some have it disabled. IN EACH preset, put the EXP pedal at 0%, and re-save it. Set up your wah pedal like this "Per Preset": When you go into another preset, the wah will be off, but once you move the pedal up/down it will reflect the percentage you put it in and turn on the wah block. Does that work?
gweb
Unfortunately that did not work. For now I have found a work around by pressing each preset button twice and that seems to reset each preset to how it has been saved.
Zawo2022
Hi gweb, i got the same problem! In addition when the spillover preset is activated the working with HX Edit is not reliably. Also corrupt presets appears. When I turn off the spillover preset, everything is fine... A factory reset did not help in this case. :-/ Have you found another solution after that time?
