carioca10
Hello everybody, im looking for a compact pedal effects to travel with and connect simultaneously 4 to 8 synths, 4 physical ones and 4+ iPad apps, is it possible with Line 6 HX? I’m looking at Ampero 2 and L6 HX but not sure which one will meet my goals. Any help will be greatly appreciated. PS: I’m open to ideas, even if it’s outside of the ones mentioned above
rd2rk
Compact? you're talking about 4 physical synths. Define compact? Helix Floor (Rack also) has 6 independent MONO (or 2 MONO/2 Stereo, 4 MONO/1 Stereo) inputs plus USB. There's 4 independent stereo paths. You can connect to an iPad via USB (camera kit). There's MIDI I/O via DIN or USB or both. The devil, as always, is in the details. What EXACTLY do you want to do? I suggest that you DL and read the Helix Floor Manual. At least read the sections on CommandCenter, Sends/Returns, USB and MIDI.
carioca10
Thanks for your msg! rd2rk
I have no clue what those are. I meant define compact in terms of what you're asking about. Bigger than a TS9? Smaller than a battlestar? If you need a mono input for each of those, that's 5, plus at least one knob/slider each for volume. So, the size of a small HP mixer. But no USB. If your iPad has a HP Out (my new iPhone doesn't have one anymore), you can use that. Now your HP mixer just got bigger. There's loopers the size of a typical Stompbox. But HP mixers don't typically have FX Loops. And you'll need a way to get the digital synth sounds from the iPad to the Looper in the Loop of the mixer that the analog synths are connected to. OH, SHOOT! I forgot the FX unit. Maybe you need TWO FX Loops? You need a real mixer. Or a Helix. Probably gonna need a bigger backpack. This looks like it would cover all your basics other than a built-in looper. Might even fit in your backpack! carioca10
thanks for your reply: Op-1 is the biggest one with 11 inch I have a mixer, 1010music bluebox (5.5 inch) (no looper built in, unfortunately) I can loop on the Ipad itself, using the HX as an USB audio interface perhaps Thanks,
PierM
What's the plan exactly? I mean, are those synth and apps running all at the same time? Do they need dedicated effects per each? It all depends what's the goal here. For the iPad, you can just use a USB path, and then mix the synths through something like AUM. For the other stuff, it all depends the way you are routing them all, before and within the Helix path. The delta is pretty big, as you could be fine even with a HXStomp, or on the other edge, even a Helix Rack or Floor could be not enough for your expectations. carioca10
Hello, thanks for your msg! The idea is to run both apps and hardware synths. So, can I round audio to the HX through USB and apply effects to it? thanks,

soundog
HX Effects is a great stereo effects pedal for any audio input, including keyboards/synths. I've used it for saxes and vocals without issue. Since you are using it with an iPad, you can also connect it via USB for audio, an use it with AUM for even more digital effects and routing. carioca10
Thanks soundog! I was wondering how many synths I can connect at once on the HX and have them routed to the iPad (AUM) and if possible which one with its own effects, is it possible? Use the HX as a audio interface thanks,
