Not sure if my Helix is dead - help!

Hello,

So, I haven't played on my helix for a while. Just picked it up again. When I power it up, it is stuck. It says 'Firm ware version 3.15.0 updating UI MCU Firmware, please wait do not power off the device". Plus there's a red line in the top of my screen saying :-7 and then all kinds of little dots. And it just stays like that. I've tried restarting it with mode and tap buttons (6+12) held, but nothing happens, it immediately goes to this screen. Nothing else is connected to it. Even if I do (Mac, fresh helix update install) the helix doesn't show up on my Mac because it's not booted far enough.

I had problems with updates before, but was always able to fix it with a proper cable etc, safe reboot. But this time even the safe mode reboot doesn't happen. I'm freaking out here. Anyone with suggestions?

Try this:

  1. Download and install Line 6 Updater if you have already
  2. Also download the Helix Flash Memory for 3.15
  3. Hold switches 6 & 12 when powering up Helix to get into safe boot mode
  4. Run Line 6 Updater, if it connects to your Helix, used Offline Model and install the Flash Memory file you downloaded in step 2.
  5. If Line 6 Updater doesn't see your Helix, or the update fails, you probably need Line 6 service.

Hi,

A quick search of the forum would seem to indicate that previous mentions of this error message have received the same advice - “raise a ticket with Customer Support”.

The odd thing is that when people have posted that they had contacted Line 6 they never got back with what the answer/solution was!

Hope this helps/makes sense.

I have the same problem. Using HELIX version 1.06.5

Ref; :Updating UI MCU Firmware, please wait do not power off the device"

I tried the following;

  1. Download and install Line 6 Updater if you have already. (version 1.28)
  2. Also download the Helix Flash Memory for 3.15 (version 3.71.0)
  3. Hold switches 6 & 12 when powering up Helix to get into safe boot mode. (Still looping with :-7:-7:-7 on the top Display in red)
  4. Run Line 6 Updater, if it connects to your Helix, used Offline Model and install the Flash Memory file you downloaded in step 2.

I also try to use Line 6 Central (version 1.01) without success. The softwares (Central and Line 6 updater) don't see the Helix. I also try to boot in safe mode (Switch 6 & 12) on power-up without success.

See added info beside 1. 2. 3. above...

I am using iMac with Sonoma 14.2.1

Any other idea ?

Got the same exact issue today with software 3.7

Anyone got a solution?

Anyone got a solution?

Hi,

Yeah, the solution would appear to be - raise a ticket with Customer Support.

If you do that, and solve the problem, please report back here as it may help some other hapless soul.

Strange that nobody else has bothered to post a useful solution, yet they were quick enough to post in here seeking assistance.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

Loose/disconnected cable, apparently - it's in a parallel thread which is about two below this one in the index, this morning.

Which cable? My guess would be 'the one that is loose/not attached to something'.
