Helix into PC212+, PC112+ stacked sound just went limp

First off, let me say this may have all been in my head.   I use the helix floor connected to (using l6link) PC212+ with a PC 112+ stacked on top and connected to the PC212 with l6link.  This is my main setup at home.  When I play live, I take both cabinets or just one depending on the size of the stage and how much time I will have to setup/tear down.  The PC settings are global, Flat, and LF Raw.  I have loved this sound!!!!

I played out a few weeks ago and just took the PC212.  sounded great on stage.  brought it home, hooked everything back up and it just sounded horrible.  I can't put my finger on it (so it was probably in my head) but it just sounded limp.  I tried other guitars, other presets, tweaking presets, etc.  it still was lifeless.

So I looked at the PC settings in the preset.  I changed it from flat, to speaker and it came alive and got louder.  Going back and forth between speaker and flat several times and eventually the PC112+ seemed to lose all gain with flat selected.  I even had the volume knob on the PC maxed out and still there was very little sound.

So I did what most people do next.  I turned everything off.  I then turned it on, set it back to flat and everything was back to being wonderful.  Everything had been turned on and off several times since the sound went bad, so the reboot alone was not the fix.  It must have been jiggling the PC settings and the Reboot that fixed it.

Has anyone else had issues like this before?

Thanks.

"sound just went limp": ugly guitar?

Never had those issues. Once had somehow accidently change the global setting so the big know affected digitial levels, and wondered why I was turning my PC+s above noon and still had my hearing. That was an easy fix.

However, the Helix is a computer, L6 Link is a digital protocol, and rebooting computers often fixes weird issues. If I understood why and could determine a generic fix I'd be rich beyond my wildest dreams (well perhaps not the really wild ones).

Do you recal any chane on the input LED for the PC+s? That might point to an input voluem change from the Helix.

It's an interesting topic, as nobody seems never wondering about their hearing "system", so it's always amp/guitar fault (not saying it's your case, but it could have been). People tends to think they are a static systems, so what they perceive today must be the same as next week, or yesterday, which isnt always true.

There are many conditions (stress, long time exposure to loud environment, cold/flu, overtraining, earwax, etc...) that can produce a temporary notch in our hearing capabilities, usually between 4 and 6Khz. These are extremely sensible frequencies for guitar players, so even a small notch can make a great amp sounding like a lemon.

It happens, the important thing is that it's just temporary... :P

HEY YOU, GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!   just kidding of course.  that is an interesting perspective, and somewhat plausible, however if that was the case, I would not expect the sound to be different after "jiggling" things (except my ears of course :))
