Beacher
I am sniffing at a used JTV-69. Haven't played one yet, going to see it Monday. Serial is W12030702 .... indicating (from my research) that it is 2012 Korean made? Can anyone confirm this? What I am looking for is that it has the upgraded logic board that I believe was introduced in the 2012 models? Also, what is the current firmware for this model? How can you tell what the current resident firmware is in the guitar? I have a feeling it has never been upgraded. Is it done through the Workbench Software? Will this guitar work with the current Workbench HD software? It seems the three JTV Variax models (59-69-89) come in around 8lbs +/- a bit on each? Correct? The neck profiles are 89 thinnest, 69 basic C (similar to Strat & Tele but not "Modern C" which is a bit narrower and thinner), 59 chunkiest, more so than 69 .... am I correct here? Thanks,
silverhead
I notice your other post also. You’re doing some thorough research before purchasing. Good! Yes, 2012. All JTV guitars of that vintage were manufactured in Korea, and still are I believe. I’m not aware of an update board, not to say there wasn’t one. Current firmware is v2.2 or v2.3 depending on Windows or Max OS. Yes it is compatible with Workbench HD. You determine the installed firmware version, and update the firmware, using Line 6 Monkey. Your information about neck profiles and weight is accurate.
