diggerbarnz
the older XPS-AB boxes that I see don't look like they'd power the newer James Tyler axes like my 59 or 69 ...is there an adaptor for them from xlr to CAT? - I was thinkin.. I have a spare workbench interface to get rid of & would @ times use this older supply...when I don't wanna haul hd500 If so - good excuse to spend more $...hell - I'd love one of the older acoustics too
stevekc
I still have two old XPS-AB Boxes - they do power the Tyler Variax just the same as they powered the older Variax 700/600/500/300/Acoutic700/Variax/Bass. You will need a 1/4" TRS cable to connect to the guitar. +7VDC power for the Variax is delivered on the TRS "Ring" contact.

edstar1960
oh...I thought by pics - they were XLR - I've been running straight 1/4 into amp & wow - drains things fast Thanks BTW! The XLR you see on the pics is the alternate output - the other is standard 1/4 inch - the foot switch allows you to A/B between those two outputs, so you can be connected to a standard amp and a PA at same time which is ideal for swapping between variax electric and acoustic sounds. The connection from the footswitch to the Variax or JTV is via the TRS cable as stevekc pointed out above - that carries power for the Variax or JTV and also carries back the output model sounds from the instrument.
