pianoguyy
I am not an Apple user, so I don't really keep up. But I believe that they determined it is an an Apple issue... because Apple doesn't play nice and forces companies to submit to their wishes instead of allowing a free market society. I think the only recourse you have is to use generic drivers. But, again, I am not an Apple user. That could be 10 year old information for all know. Lamont32
Greetings Fabistangelo, I had just posted a related question in this forum. I am trying to find out if there is better software support for the Helix than there seems to be for the HD500x. The 500x is now an "orphaned" product. I got mine just as the Helix made its' debut, so the pricing had been reduced at that time. I am currently running macOS Mojave on my 2012 MacPro, and I can get it to run the HDEdit software only by running LineMonkey every time I want to use it, and reinstalling the drivers. I also have a 2nd MacPro with macOS Catalina, in which the Edit software will not work at all. Out of frustration, I am now considering selling the 500x in favor of the Helix. I wish I had a solution myself for the software, because that would help us both. I have not tried the software for Windows computers yet, because I have done all of my recording on Logic (buy once, and no subscription fees), so I am reluctant to look for new recording software for Windows. Every electronic product will eventually become unsupported. Most will still do what they were originally designed to do on a standalone basis until they inevitably suffer a hardware failure, but associated devices like newer computers and operating systems will no longer be able to communicate with them. Helix, too, will eventually suffer the same fate some years after its successor is released, whenever/whatever that may be. So each one of us makes a decision: live forever with the next-to-latest minimally supported and less costly product or pay the price to have a more powerful and well supported product - for as long as that lasts. Unfortunately I don’t think there’s any magic bullet that will ease your pain with the HD500X.

Sadly Silverhead, I suspect that your assessment is spot on... I will just need to save up a few more "pennies" for the upgrade.

But MI tech moves much slower than the rest of the world, putting out products every decade instead of every year. I wouldn't expect you to still be giving us new amp models and 'bug' fixes, but drivers to be able to communicate should be continued. Makes me wonder whether, after some time, PC hardware upgrades mean that a driver update for older equipment requires a hardware, not just software/firmware update to the older equipment.
