SoCalguitardude
Hey everyone, just got a Helix a couple days ago so pardon this basic question. I’m having a tough time with Snapshots. They aren’t saving correctly. I’m using my Helix right now with my VOX AC-15 … so just for effects. And I’m trying to make Snapshot changes through HX Edit. I’m trying to assign multiple effects to a single Snapshot. But when I hit “save preset” the Snapshots are not saving. They are reverting back to old content. Thoughts on what I’m doing wrong? silverhead
I assume you are properly assigning all relevant parameters to the Snapshot controller. In particular in your case the FX blocks’ Bypass parameter needs to be assigned. Beyond that, in Global Settings -> Preferences there is a parameter called Snapshot Edits. It controls whether or not changes you make to any Snapshot are saved when you leave the Snapshot but remain in the Preset. If it is set to Discard then changes are lost as soon as you switch to another Snapshot. When set to Recall all changes you made to all Snapshots while editing within the preset are saved when you Save the preset. Sounds like yours may be set to Discard; change it to Recall.

THIS!^^^^^ The GLOBAL SETTING for Snapshot Edits, if set to RECALL, is useful when making multiple changes to multiple Snapshots in that you only NEED to SAVE the Preset once when done. However, when playing, if you change something on the fly and then change Snapshots, that change will continue to be applied until you switch Presets. If that's what you want, great. if not then you want that setting to be DISCARD. Remember that, in the case of the BYPASS function, if you want a change to be recalled across Snapshots (IOW - you want to change a normally active or bypassed BLOCK and have it retain that state across Snapshots) you can disable that block's "Snapshot Bypass" function. That DOES NOT work for parameters, just BYPASS, and the BYPASS state returns to it's SAVED state when you leave the Preset. All that said, I always leave the Snapshot Edit setting OFF. I've just forced myself to make it a habit to SAVE Snapshot changes before leaving the Snapshot.

This provides the basics on what snapshots are and how to use them
