kmhayes1217
Hi. I've downloaded the HX edit 3.70 4 times today successfully. Each time edit says that it is actually 3.62 and not 3.70. Anyone else having issues here?

Hi, It helps to know what computer an operating system you have, but if you’re using a Mac, make sure the installer actually overwrites the old version. It’s not unknown for there to be ran alias back to an earlier version lurking on the computer that can screw stuff up. In fact, the best thing to do with the old version of HX Edit is to make a backup of all the stuff from your HX device, and then bin the 3.62 version. Then run the installer for v.3.70. Hope this helps/makes sense.

(It's e.g. not smart enough to know that I want all such apps in my own /Applications/Hardware subfolder and it doesn't look there for an existing instance to overwrite. That's not always necessarily a bad thing though.) But the app itself can then live almost anywhere, as long as the user has admin privileges to move it. If not, then an alias is being made because by default the app is owned by the "root" user. But if the user holds the option key, a copy is being made, and thus the user may end up with multiple copies – and thus multiple versions. So to move an app owned by root, one needs to hold the command key and allow it by entering the admin password – or the finger print. 1
kmhayes1217
Yup. I'm using an M2 MacBook Air. Gonna back up my Helix then delete HX Edit. I'll post here if it works. Thanks all!
