Helix switching question

Hi, I’m currently using a Helix alongside a Hughes and Kettner Grandmeister deluxe 40 as my preamp. So midi out of the helix changes presets on the hk. Guitar goes into helix out into hk via fx loop and returns back so I use the helix fx before and after the hk and cab modelling to foh. Problem is I sometimes get a strange momentary detuning when I switch from one snapshot to another on the helix. Like a tone down and then straight back up again. I’m wondering whether it’s the fx in the helix struggling to kick in and whether there’s anything I can do about it? It usually happens when I go between distorted sounds rather than clean. It’s not the hk and It’s playable but off putting. Any help appreciated. P.

From your description it's hard to determine the problem.

The detune artifacts might be caused by a time parameter (delay, pre delay or something similar) that is changed via snapshot.

You could post the patch (attachment) to let us see what is going on there.

You could also do a test and bypass or delete all effects and listen whether the problem remains.

Try making sure your tap preference is set to transparent. Otherwise by default you get these glitchy sounds when delay bpm changes. As I stated previously, I can’t imagine why anybody would want to hear those glitchy sounds. But some people do. So check if this is what you’re referring to.

I personally often change the bpm of the delay to glue several snapshots together better. But I use normal conventional delay blocks.

Thanks for this. How do get to tap preferences? That may well be the problem. I think it may occur when I come out of a sound with a delay on and tails on into a sound that has no delay.

Global Settings -> Preferences -> Tempo Pitch
