Update failed - Helix won't work, and not recognized by HX Edit - Help!

Unit is new, and update seemed to go ok. I got an error message the manual said I'd see, so I attempted second update per instructions. Now the unit shows no text whatsoever...just blank white screens. Not one control knob or button changes anything. It seems dead. All the reset instructions go thru HX Edit. However, HX Edit will not recognize it.

Line 6 isn't available to help me.

Anyone got a suggestion?

Off the top of my head... there's a procedure to start the Helix in a sort of 'recovery' mode. Can't remember the details, but have a trawl through the threads where people have had problems updating - should see them within the first couple of pages of the Helix forum, as there was a big update recently.

Look for either 'datacommando' or 'rd2rk' advice posts.

Also, if you haven't tried it, already, download 'Line 6 Updater' and try that.

It's one of those things that tends to find your Helix when HX Edit doesn't... no promises, but stay calm, the solution is in one of the 'update failure' threads.

Hi, Ho Silver!

I keep saying that I will stop doing this, but here we go once again. There are only so many times I can be bothered to cut and paste this information in this forum before we run out of space.

Once more from the top! HX Edit cannot connect to a device in a failed state! Use the Line 6 Updater Utility and perform an offline update.

Go here and follow the instructions to the letter, but bear in mind this is from an older post, therefore all references to version numbers must be the very latest available for the 3.71 firmware update.

Hope this helps/makes sense.
