a6strng
Looking to be able to use the looper with my acoustic and record in the looper a percussive tapping on the guitar itself to create a beat. Is this possible?
silverhead
I expect so. The looper will record everything - including silence - between the Start and Stop taps. Presumably your tapping will generate audio picked up by whatever mic or pickup your guitar is using.
brue58ski
It is a vcery basic looper. Click to start record, click to stop and it starts playing automatically. I started to write some hints but I was just rewriting the manual. It's so basic it only takes up two pages in the manual. Pages 39-40. But if you've used a looper before, you probably don't need the manual very much.

Is this possible? Just to elaborate on what @brue58ski said. It’s a very basic looper. It will not recognize your tapping as any sort of beat, nor assign any resulting tempo. It will simply record the audio created by your tapping.
brue58ski
Check this out. If this is the kind of thing you're talking about, it was done on the previous Line 6 modeler. The Helix has the same thing if not a little better. He did say he used a Boss DD-20 delay for some overdubs. I'm not sure how, but I think this demonstrates what you want to do. Is this possible? I record acoustic guitars using my Helix floor and adding a looper block is easy enough, so that should be do-able, provided you can work within the limitations of the onboard looper, which was not really designed as a full blown performance looper. For more control of looping I use various external hardware options that I can plug into the Send and Returns of my Helix - e.g. Ditto 4x, Boss RC30 and a I have a couple of others available to give longer recording times and more audio trickery. Here's a guy doing some percussive bass with the looper on a HX Stomp XL. Enjoy Hope this helps/makes sense. On 4/29/2024 at 4:46 PM, brue58ski said: Check this out. AFAIK, Jake was recently seen using a Line 6 HX One, a DL4 MkII and a Tonex. I'm almost sure I have seen him using the Helix floor unit though. brue58ski
Ooooops. Here's one using the HD500 looper only. It isn't the one I remember. Nor was the one I originally posted. It was more similar to the first one except it was just him alone and he was using only the HD500. .
