HX Edit 3.80 no longer compatible in Windows 7

Yeah I know - why am I still using W7?  1) I'm old 2) my studio is running PT 10 HD on a rock solid W7 machine and I have a zillion projects stored and I just don't to mess with it.  My clients love the results.

So why would Line 6 Edit no longer run in W7?  3.70 runs fine in W7 - why the change?

Have you actually tried it... or are you just reading the "compatible with" notes on the download page? If it's the latter.... you may still want to try.

No harm on staying with an older machine that does what you need... but you will encounter these types of issues.

Company's don't support EOL (end of life) OS systems indefinitely... it becomes a waste of resources since the user base is small & gets smaller each day. Windows 7 has been on borrowed time since Jan of 2020. If it doesn't install or won't run.. it likely has to do with necessary changes to make it work with Windows 11. Software moves on... whether we like it or not.

Yes I tried it - will not run in W7.  Error window pops up.

Then downgrade to the previous version.  There is not anything that is worth upgrading to 3.8 IMO.  One bass wah, and one amp...   No reason to always upgrade to the latest.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Not sure about where you are, but where I live I can pickup a used Windows 10 laptop for dirt cheap and could be used for a lot more than just HX edit.... moving forward you may find you will need it more and more. Even then... Microsoft moves the goal posts even further on Oct 14th 2025 when they drop support for Windows 10.

NOTE: I'm not suggesting you move your stable studio setup to a cheap windows 10 laptop... I'm suggesting you use it for the things your old machine isn't allow to do anymore.

Don't know why they dropped 7; could have been they have a dependency on some third party library that doesn't support it anymore.

But, whatever you do, don't replace your 7 with 10 as it is nearing EOL; if you are going to stick with Windows, go to 11.

Yeah, I get it—I'm sticking with W7 for similar reasons. My studio runs PT 10 HD perfectly on it, and I’ve got countless projects stored. Clients love the results, so I’m hesitant to change. As for Line 6 Edit, it's strange that 3.70 works fine, but the newer version doesn’t. Wondering if it’s compatibility or update issues. My elder sister was juggling her research, teaching responsibilities, and her PhD thesis. She was exhausted and in need of expert guidance. I suggested this https://academized.com/phd-thesis-writers service, which offers experienced PhD thesis writers. The writer assigned to her was highly knowledgeable and helped structure her ideas into a coherent, high-quality thesis. Her supervisor was impressed with her progress, and she felt more confident about completing her degree on time. This service truly supports scholars in achieving their goals.

Thank you.
