How to program Tap/tuner footswitch to be next preset and switch left of it "D" footswitch as previous preset??

Hi all. Trying to set my Helix LT up so that the tap/tuner footswitch functions to go to the next preset and the bottom row "D" footswitch goes to the previous preset. Can't seem to figure out how to do this in Command Center. So far I've gotten the Bank up/down switches set to do this and have them reversed so the lowermost one goes to the next preset and the top footswitch to the previous preset. However, the reason I want this setup closer to the right side of the Helix is because I have some presets that use the foot controller so I want to be able to switch preset and then immediately use the foot controller. How can I set this up? It doesn't have to be the Tap/tuner, I could always settle with the C & D footswitches, but I really want them as close to the foot controller as possible and my aim is for one button preset switching, I don't even want to deal with Snapshots, I want to know the next part is coming up and hit a single footswitch so I don't have to remember what the next snapshot footswitch I need to stomp on is. I've already disabled the 2nd processing path for full preset spillover, works wonderfully.

So, any help programming the footswitches to do this would be most appreciated! Thanks!

Well, I made some progress. I found that I must be in Global Settings -> Preset/Stomp mode to be able to assign footswitches to "HX Preset" "Next" or "Prev" but it still won't give me that option for the Tap/tuner footswitch, only the 8 inner footswitches. I could live with that but it really is a pain that I can't set the function globally and have to program this controller into each and every preset.

Next issue, in this mode it won't let me assign colors to the footswitches. I absolutely need that. I need to set green for my "Next preset" footswitch and red for my "Previous preset" so if I ever accidentally press a footswitch I can go back. Any reason the footswitch "Customize" is grayed out and I can't set footswitch colors?

*EDIT - I found that if I change the setting for the footswitch to something different first, such as Midi CC, I can then change the color then set it back to "HX Preset Next or Prev" and it retains the LED ring color but it winds up being set to faint instead of full brightness. This is better than nothing but I would prefer to have the LED ring set to full bright.

Anyone out there in Line 6 land?

Yep,

Mode and Tap Tempo cannot be reassigned in the manner you want.

Some stuff just shouldn’t be messed with.

You maybe should have read this first:-

Hope this helps/makes sense.

If you never use your tap/tempo for anything, including tuning...... you could create a midi loop and program the button with a midi send. Setup a cable between the MIDI IN & OUT, carefully set the channels to avoid unwanted midi messaging, then discretely set the tap tempo button to send the "preset up" message back to the  helix. This change is NOT GLOBAL on the button... you need to program it in every preset!

I repurposed my tap tempo for a while via midi, it worked fine but it wasn't worth it because you had to program it on every preset. Also... even though your tuner could be accessed, it will always trigger the MIDI action as well. I don't need confusion on stage!
