Delay in Snapshot Switching on Line 6 Helix LT

I'm experiencing a delay when switching snapshots on my Line 6 Helix LT using the footswitch. The sound doesn't change as expected.

Details:

  • Model: Helix LT

  • Firmware: 2.92

  • Connected Devices:

    • Fender Stratocaster

    • Fender Deluxe Reverb

    • Mission Engineering EP1-L6

    • Windows 10 PC for HX Edit MyCenturas

Steps:

  1. Power on the Helix LT.

  2. Load a preset with multiple snapshots.

  3. Switch from Snapshot 1 to Snapshot 2 using the footswitch.

  4. Observe the delay and inconsistent sound change.

Troubleshooting Tried:

  • Updated firmware

  • Checked connections

  • Factory reset

  • Re-calibrated expression pedal

Patterns:

  • Delay noticeable with significant effect or amp changes

  • Issue persists with different guitars and amps

Request: Any advice or solutions to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Best regards, Janet

I am not sure about the issue, but my first question is why not update to 3.80? You said updated firmware, but did it fail?

My go to advice is disconnect everything. Update firmware. Just connect guitar and headphones and see what happens.

“Delay noticeable with significant effect or amp changes”

Does that mean that this is the only situation in which the problem occurs? In other words, presets with snapshots that don’t involve significant effect or amp changes do not cause these problems?

It is quite common for there to be odd sounds when switching snapshots with dramatic changes in amp and FX settings or selections, although there is usually not a noticeable delay. Is it possible that the delay is a result of FX changes (e.g. Autoswell, Delay time, …)? Ask yourself “What would I expect to hear if I made these changes instantaneously using the actual real-world equipment rather than virtual models?” For instance, rapidly rotating the Delay Time knob on a real pedal while playing will produce odd sounds, and so does doing the same with snapshots.

I suspect your problem is not a bug or faulty equipment but just a result of the nature of the dramatic changes involved. Try to identify the blocks/settings changes that are causing the issue and make the changes less dramatic. You can also try setting Trails On for the FX blocks so that the apparent delay when changing snapshots is less noticeable.

If there is an actual problem it’s likely hardware since you seem to have dealt with potential firmware issues. Open a support ticket if you are unable to resolve anything.

If a lot of things change between the snapshots, then that could introduce a delay.  So start with a simple preset and turn on/off a delay block between snapshots.  That should be pretty instantaneous.  Maybe you assigned a bunch of parameters to snapshots, that you are not aware of?
