Volume automatically maxes out on windows PC when HX Stomp XL connects

I can't figure this out. When the stomp is connected to my windows 11 PC (surface pro 9), the volume on the PC maxes out. It blows my eardrums out when I'm wearing headphones.

 

Is there something I can do to make the HX Stomp (or HX Edit) _not_ touch my PC volume?

Try Global Settings-> Ins/Outs -> USB In 1/2/Trim. Lower this value until comfortable.This does not adjust your PC volume but lowers the signal level as it enters the Stomp.

Not sure what you're saying.

HX Edit/HXS does not control the level of the Windows Playback Device.

 

Please provide more detail about your connections and signal chain - Guitar>X>X>X>Speaker.

You will almost certainly find that, when you connect your Helix, your Windows sound device changes to Helix from whatever you were using previously. Windows normally has separate volume settings for each device, so the chage in device also results in a change in volume. Go to Windows > Settings > Sound when the Helix is connected, and you should see a list of devices.  You can set the default voume of each device independently.

I experience the same problem. I tried the solution of gbr13697 and set the HX Stomp XL in windows settings on 5(%). But every time I restart my laptop and connect my HX stomp XL it starts at 100%. When I look in the settings default is still on 5%. 

It is a bit frustrating when I forget tot set it back.
