Preset button not working on Helix LT

Hey!

I've mostly edit my presets on PC, but wanted to switch setlists manually and looked up a video on it on how can I do it. The problem is, that the preset knob is not a pressable button on my LT. I roll it laft and right and it switches between presets, but I can't press it and swqitch between setlists.

Were there earlier models where this wasn't an option or I just got a fauty one. I bought it back in 2021 but honestly never really used that knob.

try cleaning it with deoxIT.  Pretty sure you can just drip it down the shaft.

You use the PRESET button (TURN IT and you will change presets, PRESS IT and then you will see the SETLISTS). You then need to use the joystick to select SETLISTS and PRESET within SETLIST.

I would only do this with my fingers..... if I used my feet then I think that the buttons wouldn't be up to the job, as these aren't the same as the FOOTSWITCH buttons.

If you still have the original paperwork that came with the LT there was a big (A3) cheat sheet that will give you the overview of the buttons, and I'm sure there will be more in the manual.

I'm sure you could do something with CommandCentre if you wanted to something by footswitch. (all depending on use case)

Hi,

No, that's never been an option - and why would it be?

You obviously have a problem with the encoder, which possibly may not be registering the downwards "click", and yes, I do mean "click" - it's audible on my Helix floor unit.

There may not be any downward movement on the encoder if there is no gap under the bottom of the encoder button, then you will not be able to depress it to engage the switch. If the base of the cap is touching the body of your LT, you could try to gently (and I do mean gently) prise the cap up off the LT case to leave a gap of around 2mm, then try to depress the encoder to engage the Setlist/Preset menu options.

If you already have a sufficient gap for the "click" to happen, but still no Setlist appears, then it could be that you should try the solution suggested by @theElevators and give it a shot of DetoxIT to see if that helps.

Other than that, the only other thing that comes to mind is that one of the solder tags inside, under the switch, has gone flakey. Dry solder joints can be a pain. I had that problem with the Joystick on my Helix a long time back.

If none this works then you made need a Line 6 repair shop to deal with it.

Hope this helps/makes sense.
