Assigning Snapshots to Footswitches in Command Center

Hello,

I am trying customize stomp mode in command center and running into a little issue. First off, for this song, I am programming 6 snapshots and 2 looper commands. I am able to assign all of the commands properly, but only one of my snapshots retains the footswitch assignments. Every time I go to a different snapshot (except that first one I programmed) all the command center snapshot commands revert to “Next”. It’s as if I was in a snapshot when I programmed command center, you know? The only way to get back to my programmed footswitches is by cycling through the snapshots until I get to that 1st one I programmed.

Is there a way to make the command center footswitch assignments the same in all 6 snapshots without having to go through and assign them individually in all 6 snapshots?

These are "stackable" snapshots.  You need to select each snapshot, and re-do the assignments of all the buttons 8 times and save each time.  You basically have an ability to have 8 different layouts, depending on which snapshot is currently selected.  In other words, all buttons can completely change every time you select a particular snapshot in pedalboard view.  So you can toggle through all your sound changes by pressing the same button.  I personally find it unnecessary....

There's a workaround to not have to do this, the way it worked several versions ago: In Global Settings, change the setting for Snapshot Edits.  After you save everything, you can revert that setting back.

Otherwise, yeah, you need to do this multiple times.  It's more complicated, but gives you extra flexibility!

Snapshot Reselect will reload the current Snapshot, re-sending all Instant Commands and Toggling switch values.

I think he meant Global Settings>Preferences>SNAPSHOT EDITS>Retain/Discard.

Set that to RETAIN. That allows you to make changes across Snapshots while configuring them without having to SAVE each time - you can change it back DISCARD later if you prefer any LIVE changes you make while in a Snapshot to not be retained. If you leave it set to RETAIN, the changes made in performance will not be SAVED, they'll simply be RETAINED until you leave the Preset.

Go to your first Snapshot and set all the switches the way you want them in THAT Snapshot.

Right Click on a button and in the dropdown select COPY ALL.

Go to your next Snapshot. Select a button and Right Click. In the dropdown select PASTE ALL.

Repeat for all Snapshots.

SAVE THE PRESET!

Now go back to your first Snapshot and customize the buttons that need to be changed.

Your main concern will likely be those buttons that you've decided to use for Snapshot changes.

In each Snapshot you have to have those buttons set to go where you want them to from THAT Snapshot.

If you always know where you'll want to go from any given Snapshot, you only need ONE FS.

Having options requires multiple switches.

Attached is a simple example I made on my HXS using a single FS an the PRESS/HOLD setting.

In SS1 if you PRESS and release you go to SS2. Press and HOLD takes you to SS3.

In SS2 if you PRESS and release you go to SS3. Press and HOLD takes you to SS1.

In SS3 if you PRESS and release you go to SS2. Press and HOLD takes you to SS1.

My HXS only has 3 Snapshots, so that's all I can do, but as you can see, you can go crazy on a Helix with 8 Snapshots!

Have Fun!

Thank you both for your replies. These “stackable snapshots” are pretty cool. I’ll play around with this. Where the snapshot was taking me was definitely messing me up.

Yes, I got a little confused by “Snapshot Reselect”. I thought theElevators might have meant “Snapshot Edits”.

Will copy/pasting the footswitches affect my snapshot parameter settings at all, or just the footswitch assignments?

Just the CommandCenter assignments, not the parameter assignments or BYPASS status of specific FX Blocks.

Yes you are correct!  Snapshot Edits is the setting indeed.  Basically you can change that setting, that way you won't have to resave your layout 8 times.  Then revert it.

The stackable snapshots are a new-ish feature.  I personally don't have any use for it, because if the layout changes, it will throw me off.  But if you toggle 2 sounds back and forth, maybe it's easier to assign both changes to the same button.  There are so many possibilities, whatever floats your boat! You can also have 2 buttons "next" and "prev" to cycle through all 8 of your snapshots.  So if you play a song that has 8 sounds, you can simply create a snapshot for each, and order them accordingly.  But you may wear out your "next" button pretty fast lol
