steelstringer
Hello! I would like to add a Boss Looper pedal, and I want to double check my thinking. I am using the Helix LT. I am running 2 acoustic guitars (one in the guitar input and the second in the Return 1). I believe the best way to add the looper for guitar 1 is to use Send 1 and Return 2. Is this an acceptable route? YouTube videos suggest the FX loop block to return, but it’s greyed out because I have a guitar in the Return 1 input. Thanks! silverhead
Maybe use Return 2 for the guitar and free up the FX Loop in Send/Return 1?

Hi, Yes - If you’re using Return 1 for the second guitar input, then it would be preferable to use Send/Return 2 as an FX Loop for your external device, plus the option to use the Send/Return as a dedicated FX loop adds the facility of having trails if you are using any external delay, or reverb units. From the manual:- NOTE: Each return can be used only once in a preset. For example, if you add a Return 1 block (or assign one of the input blocks to Return 1), Return 1/2, FX Loop 1, and FX Loop 1/2 items will all appear grayed out in the model list, as they also utilize Return 1. See page 43 of the Helix LT v3.8 Owner’s Manual for more info. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00051afd86673ccb96424d9/application/pdf/Helix LT 3.80 Owner's Manual - English .pdf I have several different brands of dedicated loopers, each with different capabilities, including an old BOSS RC-30 Loop Station. Whichever looper that I choose to use will be patched in on an FX Loop on my Helix, which has the added advantage of having 4 Send/Return jack sockets so I can also run them in full stereo. Hope this helps/makes sense. 1
