flydav
Less then 6 months old and they are already fading out...it gets on my nerves... it starts looking like a TV remote control. Do they sell these buttons anywhere and is it possible to replace them without opening the unit? Talking about the VIEW-ACTION and PAGE-PAGE buttons. They look worse than the picture shows. theElevators
I don't think it's worth the trouble to replace the button. If it's bothering you so much, you can buy a white fine marker, re-trace where the lettering has faded. Use a marker like this maybe? https://www.amazon.com/LMMINBZ-Acrylic-Permanent-Waterproof-Painting/dp/B0D1YSW17D Wait a day. Then apply a thin layer of clear nail polish. wait a few hours, then reapply. Or some kind of a varnish. Honestly, it's cheap Chinese stuff, buttons are not going to last forever. I don't have that problem because I use a computer for editing most of the time on my Helix, and I don't need to press "Home" at all. Some people have acidic sweat. Good luck! flydav
Thanks! I do use the X edit but the first 2-3 months I forced myself to just use the unit so that I would be able to make changes on the fly. Once I was comfortable with that I started using the X edit. What surprises me is that it seems like it's just my unit, I wasn't able to find any video/picture where it looks like mine that's why I feel like cheated...If I saw even one or two like mine I would say uh...it's ok! I believe that the marker it's not able to trace those minuscule writings, too thin. If its possible at all replacing them without opening the unit I would do it, I mean how much would they cost 5,10,15 $? Then I would apply the nail polish to protect them ;)

Or the "chiclet keyboard" keys on my meanwhile also antique MacBook 2012… :D
